Bobby Roode (c) vs. Hideo Itami

Bobby Roode looks to continue the glorious era of NXT when he defends his title against Hideo Itami at NXT TakeOver: Chicago. First things first, if Hideo Itami lands a GTS in Chicago the roof might literally explode off the Allstate Arena with either cheers or boos.

Itami’s in-ring work since signing with NXT has been fairly limited with two injuries keeping him out a majority of the time. That being said, he’s coming off a great match with Roderick Strong where he picked up the win to become the number one contender.

Bobby Roode’s matches with Shinsuke Nakamura received a mixed reaction from people online so the champion may be looking to silence the doubters by putting on a good match with Itami. Hideo has been on a roll since returning but it’s hard for me to see him become champion this Saturday in Chicago. Him winning would be a pleasant surprise but Bobby Roode may be the better option to carry NXT to TakeOver: Brooklyn III.
