WWE SummerSlam will see its first match confirmed on the July 17 episode of Raw, with Brock Lesnar finding out his opponent.

At WWE Great Balls of Fire, Brock Lesnar defeated Samoa Joe to retain the Universal Championship. It put Lesnar on pace for a title defense at SummerSlam, a setting he found success at in 2013, 2014 and 2016, by defeating CM Punk, John Cena and Randy Orton, respectively.

On Monday’s episode of Raw, the first teases for Lesnar’s SummerSlam opponent were made in the 10:00 p.m. ET hour of the show. It saw him and Paul Heyman approach the ring, only be get interrupted by Roman Reigns. They exchanged words, before Joe entered the venue and made the situation even tenser.

During this segment, Reigns and Joe made their claim for the Universal Championship opportunity at SummerSlam. With Kurt Angle already out there, he put these two into a match for next week’s episode of Raw, with the winner getting Lesnar at SummerSlam.

Joe vs. Lesnar in a SummerSlam rematch seems unlikely, after the definitive result from Sunday night. Beyond that, there’s the rumor of who Lesnar’s opponent could be.

If Reigns is the man for Lesnar, it represents a rematch of the WrestleMania 31 main event. These two battled for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, but Seth Rollins cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase. After pinning Reigns, Rollins walked out as champion.
