Highlights of the Division

Samoa Joe might have lost to Brock Lesnar but he looks like the only main-event star that looks like he’s on equal footing with the champ. The brutality he dished on the Beast at Great Balls of Fire hasn’t been seen since for many years and has dramatically shifted the narrative of the Universal Championship picture. When Joe became the No. 1 Contender, many people thought he would have a good showing but eventually lose to Brock Lesnar. Now many people believe Joe is the odds-on favorite to beat the Beast and capture his first championship on the main roster.

Joe will get his chance to face Lesnar if he gets through Roman Reigns next week on RAW. Roman doesn’t deserve an opportunity to challenge for the title because of his loss to Braun Strowman at Great Balls of Fire. He might have snapped and try to end the career of Strowman but that shouldn’t make him the favorite to beat Samoa Joe. Most likely Braun Strowman will have a final say on that huge main-event match next week and cost Roman his shot at Summerslam. Both men still have unfinished business to settle which should leave us the title rematch of Joe and Lesnar intact.

Meanwhile, for the Rest of the Division

Bray Wyatt has finally climbed back as a perennial contender for the Universal Championship after his two straight wins over Seth Rollins. The Architect will drop to the pretender status while he’s feuding with the Miz and the Miztourage with his former Shield brother Dean Ambrose. The question is for Bray Wyatt is what’s next for the former WWE Champion. Maybe he should revisit his earlier feud with Finn Balor which was teased back in April and never materialized. A match between those two at Summerslam would be a show-stealer based on the theatrics both men bring to the table. It could finally be the opportunity for Balor to bring back his “Demon King” persona in an eerie feud with the Eater of Worlds.

These are the rankings for the division this week.
