WWE: Injuries Plague the Company Heading into SummerSlam

WWE SummerSlam’s plans were impacted by the mounting injuries on Raw.

SummerSlam will no doubt be the best event WWE puts out this year. Just by judging the card it’s obvious the show will be better than WrestleMania 33. But with the main event being Reigns vs. Joe vs. Strowman vs. Lesnar for the Universal Championship this show already has the edge over Great Balls of Fire, and anything the company can hope to put out for the rest of 2017.

And co-main events of Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Jinder Mahal for the WWE Championship, and Kevin Owens vs. AJ Styles for the United States Championship. It’s easy to see why the fans are ecstatic for the “Biggest Party of the Summer” to get here.

As well as boasting matches between John Cena and Baron Corbin, The New Day vs. The Uso’s for the Smackdown Tag Team Titles, and Neville vs. Akira Tozawa for the Cruiserweight Championship.

WWE announced two of their main stars on Raw were injured earlier this week. This news comes right before SummerSlam threw a wrench into WWE’s plans for their Women’s division, and Tag Team division on Raw going forward.

Everyone knows Bayley is injured because she was slated to take on Alexa Bliss for the Raw Women’s Championship in Brooklyn. Unfortunately, though she suffered a separated shoulder a few weeks ago on Raw in a match against Nia Jax. Which unfortunately means that Bayley will miss SummerSlam. WWE has yet to give a time table for her injury, and when she’ll be able to get back in the ring.

The other injury is one that may have flown under the radar for most. Scott Dawson of The Revival suffered a ruptured biceps tendon tear, according to WWE’s official website. (Many of you will remember that Dawson’s tag team partner Dash Wilder missed the last month with a fractured jaw.) This is unfortunate for The Revival because WWE is really high on the tag team, and wanted to get them involved in the Raw Tag Team Title picture following SummerSlam. Dawson’s injury once again leaves the Raw Tag Team division slim.

Hopefully, both Dawson and Bayley, can make a speedy recovery and return to Raw. WWE’s flagship show and fans will miss them.
