Ever since the long-awaited return of the Olympic Gold Medalist and new WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle earlier this year, the WWE universe has speculated if and when The Wrestling Machine will make his in-ring WWE return. Could it happen at WWE Survivor Series 2017?

Kurt Angle is one of the most decorated WWE superstars of all-time during his outstanding stint in the company from 1999-2006 with countless incredible matches and title reigns under his belt. Angle had another successful stint in sports entertainment in TNA from 2006-2016 where he furthered his reputation as one of the greatest of all-time.

Fans speculated if he would ever return to the WWE and not only did he return as a new member of the WWE Hall of Fame, he has been operating as the Monday Night Raw general manager since April. Angle’s return to WWE TV has been a sight for sore eyes and a wonderful nostalgia trip for fans getting to chant the famous “You Suck” chants during his entrance.

But many fans are still wondering if Angle will wrestle in the WWE again. Despite turning 49 years old this December, Angle is still in tremendous shape and showed as much in the indies circuit for a select few matches following his departure from TNA.

While many believe Angle’s potential return to a WWE ring could be at WrestleMania 34, recent storyline developments on Raw could lead to that return earlier than next year. Since revealing he is the kayfabe father of WWE superstar Jason Jordan, Angle has been more involved in storyline beef with one of Raw’s top heels.

More from Raw

The Miz has had arguably the best year of his career since last summer’s initial brand split and he has been on fire as of late with outstanding promos. While his Intercontinental Championship hasn’t seen the best direction lately, he is scheduled to defend his title at No Mercy against Jordan.

Ever since the news of Jordan being revealed as Angle’s son, The Miz has had many disparaging remarks towards both Angle and Jordan. He has taken countless shots at Angle over the past number of weeks and those shots seemingly intensify more and more every week.

Miz deserves a marquee match and a major spotlight for all the great work he has done for the WWE over the past year. And what better opponent to fill that role than Angle? The WWE has had success with one-off style matches with legends in recent memory.

Sting had two matches in 2015 and a memorable WrestleMania 31 match with Triple H while Goldberg had a small handful of matches in the WWE since Survivor Series 2016 including a memorable feud with Brock Lesnar. Angle could do the same, but even better given the level of athlete Angle is while also being younger and in better ring shape than both Sting and Goldberg.

The WWE loves to have marquee matches at each of the big four pay-per-views, and Angle’s return to WWE in-ring competition would define marquee. Given the recent developments between The Miz and Angle on Raw, this match could happen.

Angle vs. Miz at WWE Survivor Series 2017 would be a big-time, money-drawing match if built the right way. The WWE has been planting the potential seeds for it as of late and could continue to up the ante in the coming weeks. This could also be Raw’s counter to the must-see TV on SmackDown Live with Kevin Owens and Shane McMahon’s feud that’s taking the WWE by storm.

Jordan could even get involved in the picture and the WWE could do some type of tag team or handicap match with Angle and Jordan against The Miz and The Miztourage in some form or fashion. But regardless of how it would be done, pitting Miz against Angle would be a great idea.

This is all speculation of course, but it’s not hard to imagine the amount of interest that match could draw. And it could be way more than just a randomly thrown together match like Lesnar vs. Goldberg was at last year’s Survivor Series.

Miz and Angle already have a solid build going in their favor and the next couple months could only help further that build for Survivor Series. Angle could still potentially wrestle at WrestleMania 34 as well, but a tune-up match against a top star on Raw to draw a plethora of interest could be in the best interest of Angle and the WWE as a whole.
