WWE Rumours: Jinder Mahal To Become 2-Time WWE Champion?

Has an advertisement for WWE’s Indian tour given away the plans for Jinder Mahal’s title reign?

Current WWE Champion, Jinder Mahal, has now officially surpassed Roman Reigns and Ric Flair for number of days as WWE Champion.

On May 21st, 2017, the Modern Day Maharaja was crowned WWE Champion, defeating Randy Orton in his first title defence since winning the belt at WrestleMania.

It provided pure shock and ore, with fans questioning the decision, moreover, questioning how long Mahal would keep the title.

Well, so far, the answer is just over five months. However, Mahal title run may be ending shortly.

As many will know, the WWE have been trying to penetrate the Indian market, and having Jinder as their Champion clearly helps proceedings. Which suggests that the company would want to keep the title on him, when trying to gain a chunk in the market in India.

However, according to a report from Bryan Alvarez of The Wrestling Observer (subscription needed), an advertisement for the upcoming tour in India lists Mahal as a “two time WWE Champion” [H/T: GiveMeSport].

This indicates that from now and December (that’s when the India tour takes place), Mahal will lose and again the WWE Championship, hence, being titled a two time Champion.

It’s highly possible that former 3MB member could drop the belt this Sunday at Hell In A Cell to Nakamura, then reclaim it at a SmackDown Live show, or, at the following PPV Survivor Series. Both are dreadful ideas.

Hopefully, the marketing department have made a typo, and Jinder won’t be loosing the title. Now, that’s not because I’m enjoying him as the Champ, but rather, because I want him to hold the belt until WrestleMania.

If he flip-flops the belt, firstly, it weakens Nakamura, and secondly, it weakens the eventual narrative for his opponent at WrestleMania.

If the company are pushing for unstoppable, heel Jinder, they should stick with it. Because in the end, the ‘hero babyface’ winning it off him will be such a bigger story because of it.
