WWE Rumors: Why Bayley Was Chosen Over Paige For Survivor Series

On last night’s edition of WWE Monday Night Raw, Bayley won a Triple Threat match to earn her position on the women’s Survivor Series team – a position that fans assumed would go to a returning Paige.

Over the last week or so, the rumor going around was that Paige was returning. And in fact, she was spotted at the same area WWE were in last night. Of course, as fans being fans, we expected her to make her return and join Team Red at Survivor Series. However, that clearly wasn’t the case.

According to CageSideseats’ Rumor Roundup, WWE was debating all day on who to choose out of Paige and Bayley to be involved in the Survivor Series match-up. They chose the latter.

The decision seemed confusing, as it’s common knowledge that Paige is fit and ready to comeback. However, according to a new report from PWInsider (that has not been confirmed) there’s been a lot of talk that backstage officials were not happy with Paige posting a picture of herself and Alicia Fox to her Instagram. And as such, that may have influenced WWE choosing Bayley.

If this is the case, it makes matter even more confusing. Yes, Paige posting a picture of her backstage does give away her being back, however, it’s not the end of the world. Fans and news sites were posting images of Paige outside the arena (as mentioned above), so the “secret” was already out.

By all means, I’m not against Bayley being involved in the match at Survivor Series, however, she’s really lacked something lately and the crowd’s response to her has decreased exponentially. All in all, I think a Paige return on Raw to make the women’s Survivor Series match-up feel bigger would’ve been the right call. But hey, what do I know?
