WWE Rumors: Paige To Return After Survivor Series?

facebooktwitterreddit

Many expected Paige to return to the WWE during Raw this week, but she didn’t make an appearance on television on either Monday or Tuesday.

For the past couple of months, fans have been anxiously waiting for Paige’s return to a WWE ring. The former NXT Women’s Champion memorably became the Divas Champion on her first night on the main roster, defeating the brilliant AJ Lee on the episode of Raw after WrestleMania. Proclaiming that she learned to wrestle in the womb, Paige is one of the most prolific female grapplers in the world today, and she is a person many fans identify with.

Cageside Seats passes along a note from the Wrestling Observer News’s Dave Meltzer that Paige was actually never set to return this week. This conflicts with a report from PWInsider.com, which indicated that Paige would return on Raw. That didn’t happen, and some have speculated that the WWE decided to pull her appearance because the cat slipped out of the bag.

When Paige didn’t show up at Raw or SmackDown, I wondered if she could make her appearance at Survivor Series. Everyone loves a good Survivor Series return, and there’s enough love out there in the audience for Paige to get a massive pop when “Stars In The Night” hits.

However, Meltzer’s report indicates that Paige could return later, but I am still willing to hold out hope that we could see “The Anti-Diva” at Survivor Series. After all, there’s a void for the fifth member of SmackDown Live‘s Survivor Series team, and while that could easily be filled by Natalya, maybe it could be Paige.

Either way, it’s still unclear if Paige will be a part of Raw or SmackDown. Considering Raw already has too many babyfaces in their women’s division – and there’s no way Paige gets booed on her return – it would be better for Paige to make her return on the “Blue Brand”. Plus, Asuka is a member of Raw, so SmackDown Live could use Paige for balance.

It’s worth mentioning that the WWE could do another “Superstar Shakeup”, in which case Paige’s return would make more sense after Survivor Series.
