Hoping new women’s alliances on WWE Raw, SmackDown grow in numbers

The return of Paige to WWE was not surprising, but how she did it was. Paige enlisted NXT superstars Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose to join her, and the pair made their main roster debuts on Monday Night Raw on Nov. 20 at the Toyota Center in Houston, the night after Survivor Series in the same venue.

Paige interrupted the fatal four-way between Bayley, Sasha Banks, Alicia Fox and Mickie James to announce her WWE return. Then she said she did not come alone. That’s when her new allies, Deville and Rose, jumped into the ring, and they dismantled Bayley, Banks and James. A scared Fox ran away.

The crowd not only reacted strongly to Paige but also this new alliance. Backstage, they attacked Raw Women’s Champ Alexa Bliss, nWo style. Anyone in their path, they left no survivors.

Bringing two talents from NXT to back Paige is a good way to maneuver them onto the main stage. They don’t have to say much. Just act and look tough. Deville, with her MMA background, already fits that bill. Rose is beautiful, but don’t let her looks fool ya. She has improved in the ring and can dish it out. With Paige leading this charge, it works.

I would like to see the faction, if that’s the term, grow. NXT’s Sage Beckett can be the power force of the group, complementing the other three. Strength comes in numbers, and four is better than three. To top it off, WWE Hall of Famer Lita becomes the adviser of the stable. If not, is Lavar Ball available? #Kidding.

The following night (Nov. 21) SmackDown Live countered with its own trio — NXT superstars Sarah Logan, Liv Morgan and Ruby Riot. They attacked Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Naomi and Natalya.

Another thought. What if you combine both groupings, and the talent rotates between Raw and SmackDown. They can do what they want, when and where they want to do it.

WWE creates a cool name for the entourage, and they dominate the division and sell a lot of T-shirts on Raw and SmackDown.

We’ve seen it happen on the men’s side. Now let’s give the women a chance.
