Who came up as a loser by the end of WWE Raw this week? Finn Balor fought back rumors of not being over by taking an ill-advised run at Kane.
As much as we’d all like to think everything is sunshine, roses, and kittens, sometimes people hit a rough patch. It’s no different for WWE superstars. Sometimes, they’re just in a funk. After WWE Raw this week, there’s a few superstars who fall into this category.
This isn’t to say there’s no hope for these particular superstars to come back to the promised land. It’s WWE – things can change in a heartbeat. But at the present, here are three superstars who are in need of a big boost in the coming weeks.
Finn Balor
A while back, news from the rumor mill had Finn Balor tabbed as Brock Lesnar’s next challenger after Survivor Series. It makes sense – Balor was the first man to be Universal Champion, and he never lost the title. And to date, he still hasn’t really gotten a rematch for the title. (He was part of a fatal five way to determine a number one contender, that’s all.)
But more recently, it’s been reported that the higher ups in WWE don’t think Finn is over enough to warrant such a match. Personally, I thought it was a conspiracy theory – those same higher ups spread the rumors to get even more support for Finn, and he’d be over huge when he faced Lesnar.
Then this week on Raw happened. Balor saved Jason Jordan from a beatdown at the hands of Kane. It was 50/50 on “save Jordan” and “get revenge on Kane for beating me badly several weeks ago.” Eventually, a match was booked between Kane and Balor, and Finn came out on the short end of the stick.
But the match in general was a big waste of time. The bigger story was Braun Strowman returning to shatter Kane’s windpipe (basically), so Finn took a loss and got beat down pretty bad before Strowman showed up. It wasn’t a good look, especially with all the stories flying around. It does almost look like WWE has given up on Finn Balor, Main Eventer. Hopefully this turns itself around.
