WWE Rumors: Bobby Roode Expected To Win US Title Tournament?
After Dolph Ziggler relinquished the United States Championship, the WWE began a tournament for the title on SmackDown Live, and it looks like Bobby Roode and Jinder Mahal are the two favorites.
Who doesn’t love a well-done tournament in WWE? So far, the tournament for the vacated United States Championship is going quite well, and the most recent match between Xavier Woods and Aiden English can also be called a success. The two killed it with their promos, namely via hard work on social media, to build to the match, and Woods came away with the victory.
Woods will face Mahal, who defeated Tye Dillinger, in the second round of the tournament, while Bobby Roode will take on the winner of Zack Ryder vs. Mojo Rawley on the next episode of SmackDown Live. Roode had the most difficult task of the tournament thus far, eliminating former United States Champion Baron Corbin in the first round.
According to Cageside Seats’s “Rumor Roundup”, we aren’t expected to get a major upset in the semifinals of the US Title tournament, because their rumor states that Mahal and Roode are expected to meet in the finals. These are the two favorites to win it all.
The most interesting part of this rumor is the fact that of the two of them, it is stated that Roode is more likely to win the title.
Although Mahal failed as a WWE Champion, he did improve markedly in the ring, judging by his great matches with AJ Styles, and he has a well-defined character. This has made his transition into being an upper mid-carder a natural one, and many have speculated that the US Championship would be a great fit for him.

However, it makes more sense for Roode to win the tournament, because, well, he’s the bigger star. Roode is one of the better wrestlers in the world and is an excellent promo, though he needs to be a heel for his mic work to shine through. His feud with Dolph Ziggler was quite good in the ring, and Roode was also a successful NXT Champion who had great feuds with Roderick Strong, Drew McIntyre, and Shinsuke Nakamura on “the third brand”.
