WWE Rumors: Dolph Ziggler Could Return At Royal Rumble?

Dolph Ziggler won the United States Championship in a Triple Threat match against Baron Corbin and Bobby Roode at WWE Clash of Champions, but he relinquished the title just days later. Could he return at the Royal Rumble?

For the first time in over a year, Dolph Ziggler is interesting again, and it’s amazing what a title win and a storyline with some thought can do for a talented superstar whom most fans would like to see succeed.

Ziggler won the United States Championship in a well-received “swerve” at WWE Clash of Champions, but on the following episode of SmackDown Live, The Show-off told the WWE Universe that they don’t deserve him. It’s dialogue we’ve heard before from the disgruntled Ziggler, but this time, he did something to back up his bitter promo; he left the U.S. Title lying in the ring.

There has been much speculation about Ziggler’s future, but we do know that he’s still with the company. Some have wondered if Ziggler could return at WrestleMania to compete in a ladder match, unifying his old US Title with the rumored new one that will be given to the winner of the current United States Title Tournament.

A rumor on Cageside Seats today adds new speculation to Ziggler’s current storyline. Apparently Ziggler is expected to make his return at either the Royal Rumble or on the following episode of SmackDown Live.

Seeing Ziggler return at the Rumble would be a nice moment, and one of our writers predicts that the finals of the US Title tournament will occur on Jan. 28 at the Big Four PPV. If that’s the case, then perhaps Ziggler could have a staredown with the winner of the US Title Tournament, which could be Ziggler’s old nemesis Bobby Roode.

A WrestleMania program involving Ziggler and the United States Championship would be ideal, especially since Dolph has never had a singles match at WrestleMania despite all the other accolades he’s managed to secure in his under-appreciated career with WWE.
