Rey Mysterio reportedly injured after Northeast Wrestling match
Last night, during a Northeast Wrestling show, Rey Mysterio Jr. reportedly injured his left arm. This news comes at a bad time for Mysterio Jr. – and fans awaiting his return to WWE.
Amidst rumors of his return to WWE full-time, Rey Mysterio Jr. reportedly injured his left arm during a Northeast Wrestling show.
According to a report from Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, Mysterio Jr. complained of an injury, believing to have torn his left biceps, in a tag team match with Flip Gordon against Caleb Konley and Joey Mercury during a show in Waterbury, Connecticut, last night.
The report stated that according to those who had seen Mysterio Jr. after the match, there was heavy swelling in his left arm. The extent of the injury is still unknown.
Mysterio Jr. reportedly told Mercury about the injury during the match, prompting Mercury to get ready to call an audible on the finish. Before Mercury could, however, Mysterio Jr. completed a double 619 and grabbed the win for his team by pinning Konley with a splash off of the top rope.
Below is a video posted on Twitter by a fan who was at last night’s show. The video captures the finish, with footage of Mysterio Jr. clearly favoring his left arm.
The injury comes at an awful time for Mysterio Jr., who has a scheduled bout against Japanese legend Justin “Thunder” Liger at NJPW’s big Strong Style Evolved show in Long Beach, California in just three weeks.
The news also comes at a terrible surprise to fans who supported rumors of Mysterio Jr.’s return to WWE full-time. After Mysterio Jr.’s favored outing at Royal Rumble in January, fans have been clamoring for his return, citing everything from acting as an addition to 205 Live to a match against John Cena at WrestleMania 34.
