Asuka Will Steal the Show vs. Charlotte at WWE WrestleMania 34

The Empress is coming for The Queen. Asuka made her intentions known on March 11 at WWE Fastlane when she confronted Charlotte Flair. The SmackDown women’s champion stood victorious following her match with Ruby Riott when Asuka came down to the ring.

Finally the undefeated Superstar made her choice, and she will go to The Grandest Stage of Them All to challenge Charlotte for the title. The moment was not unexpected for many fans who believed that Asuka would indeed step up to the blue brand’s champion. The two will surely steal the show at WrestleMania 34.

The alternative was Alexa Bliss versus Asuka, which was an intriguing match-up. Bliss has come a long way in her WWE career and has proven herself as a very capable worker between the ropes. But it’s her character that has fans talking.

Bliss is such a good heel. Her arrogance and condescending attitude keeps her at arm’s length from every other woman on Monday Night Raw. She is fearless on the mic and she is a spitfire in the ring. Asuka may have intimidated her, but Bliss is at her best when she’s fighting against the odds.

However Charlotte versus Asuka is the money match for WWE. Charlotte is regarded by many fans as the best female performer in the business. She has shared that distinction with Sasha Banks over the past few years. But Asuka is on another level.

Asuka is a captivating presence in WWE. She has a certain mystery about her, a mystery that makes her a must-see Superstar. Fans just cannot take their eyes off of her as every time she’s on camera, she devours the scenery. She is a force of nature and her skill in the ring cannot be denied.

But the most intriguing part of the match with Charlotte is Asuka’s undefeated streak. Since her WWE debut in 2015, The Empress of Tomorrow has yet to lose a match. What began as just an impressive showing soon led to a string of wins. That led to a streak that has yet to be broken.

Of course if anyone can end that streak, it’s Flair. Charlotte was once in a similar position herself when it came to enjoying a winning streak. But she saw that 16-match streak come to an end at Fastlane in 2017 when she came up short against Bayley. Until that event, Charlotte had won every pay-per-view match she worked. But that winning record is a memory for her now. Will the same be true of Asuka?

Therein lays the drama of this match. Charlotte is the top star of WWE’s women’s division. Ronda Rousey is busy with The Authority, which means she will not be challenging Charlotte any time soon. Who else besides Asuka could actually match Charlotte move for move in a match no one has seen before?

But even though Asuka’s winning streak cannot last forever, there is no indication that WWE is ready to let it end. She is an enigmatic star that has truly been embraced by fans. They want to see her do well. More importantly, they want to see her win.

If she does defeat Charlotte at WrestleMania, then she would cement her young legacy as a truly great star in the company. She has everything it takes to carry the SmackDown Women’s Championship and she could do it as the only undefeated champion in WWE.
