Apparently Charlotte Flair Is Injured And You Can Vote Becky Lynch To Replace Her In MMC

Charlotte Flair is scheduled to defend the SmackDown Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 34 against the undefeated Asuka. But apparently she’s suffered an injury, allowing Becky Lynch to potentially replace her in the Mixed Match Challenge.

If your reaction right now is, “Wut?”, then, well, join the club. Not THAT club. No, you aren’t sweet enough for that.

Becky Lynch posted a video to Twitter (that I have embedded below for your viewing pleasure, because we all need more of Becky’s voice in our lives) related to the Mixed Match Challenge. In it, she says that you can go onto Facebook and vote for her as Charlotte Flair’s replacement in the “Robe Warriors”.

Why does Charlotte need to be replaced? Because evidently Charlotte suffered an injury, and, well, dropping this bombshell hours before SmackDown Live is quite interesting. On the one hand, it sure is a reason to tune into SmackDown for some potential information clarifying the situation. On the other hand, the timing is certainly bizarre.

You know what else was bizarre? Becky opened up the video by saying, “Oh hello there! I’m sure you’re watching this as you’ve heard the tragic news that Charlotte Flair has come down with an injury.”

Yeah…we didn’t hear about that. Like, exactly nobody heard about that.

So while Twitter (and I, being a card-carrying member of #WrestlingTwitter) sits and wonders just what the heck is going on out here (shoutout to Vince Lombardi), I’ll wait patiently for SmackDown Live. And in the meantime, I will be voting for Becky to team up with Roode. If you aren’t voting for Becky, please explain why you are an absolute savage.

As for Charlotte, I hope she isn’t actually injured, because it’s always tough to see that happen, especially this close to WrestleMania.

Since I, much like R-Truth, do love a good conspiracy, maybe Charlotte’s “injury” is a way to write her losing to Asuka at WrestleMania. They can soften the blow of her losing and potentially save that match for later, too. Or maybe it’s real, and we should all be sad. I don’t know. But the timing is weird, and it’s swerved us a bit.

UPDATE: There is a report that Charlotte underwent successful surgery for a gum infection.

Or what if Becky turned on her more successful friend on the “Blue Brand” and injured her arm in the fabled Dis-Arm-Her submission? Alright, alright, I’ll get my head out of fantasy land.
