WWE Raw: Attempting To Fix The Revival’s Booking
To get The Revival back to doing things that “Top Men” do, the WWE needs to move them over to the SmackDown brand.
WrestleMania season is considered one of the most exciting times in professional wrestling. What starts with the Royal Rumble and ends with the early-Spring event, there’s a lot to look forward to on Sunday with WrestleMania 34. However, The Revival should focus on what happens after Mania because there’s an opportunity to fix the booking with what could be one of the best teams in the organization today.
Dash Wilder and Scott Dawson hit the WWE main roster with a lot of excitement. The only team to hold the NXT tag team titles twice was expected to push the division back into its “heyday.” In a world where individual stars are thrown together to make teams, Wilder and Dawson were considered specialists; two wrestlers that formed a unit. Unfortunately for them, The Revival were hit with a number of setbacks that pushed them out of the picture and into the background.
So much so that they are taking part in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royale on Sunday. Seeing this team take part in an almost meaningless individual match shows you how far they’ve fallen. For both parties involved, they should hope for a change post-Mania that can be a shot in the arm of their wrestling careers.
First and foremost, this team needs to be moved off of Raw. While the Monday night show is the flagship program for the WWE, the tag team division has long been ignored. The current champions, Cesaro and Shemaus, were standout individual competitors who found a way to get over with the crowd with great matches and segments. They head into WrestleMania to face Braun Strowman and a yet to be named partner. Even though the Raw roster has a number of great teams on the brand, the creative team couldn’t find a way to get them involved in the biggest show of the year. Instead, SmackDown is the brand where tag team wrestling shines and that’s where The Revival belong.
Introducing The Revival on SmackDown would be easy. Allow the team to run amok on the rest of the tag team division. The New Day, The Usos and The Bludgeon Brothers sit at the top of the SmackDown team rankings and The Revival do not need to start with that group. Instead, give them an introductory feud with Breezango and the Ascension in which they run through both teams. This program would help fill out their first 1-2 months on the new brand before vaulting them to the top to feud with the eventual champions.
That sets the stage for The Revival to face off against the teams in the main event picture. It’s already clear that any combination of The New Day, Usos and Bludgeon Brothers is a match that can steal the show. Adding in The Revival ups that level. We’ve already seen them do great things with The New Day and picking up that feud again is a path back into the main event picture. Dawson and Wilder are the perfect heel duo to play foil to a face version of the Usos and that’s a rivalry that is a sure fire hit.

The Revival have suffered long enough on the Raw roster. If the WWE is going to get the best usage out of the “Top Men” on the WWE roster, the solution starts with moving them over to SmackDown. From there, allow The Revival to create magic with the top teams in the promotion.
