How Ronda Rousey Could Be A Part of WWE’s Biggest Swerve

Since she made her debut back in January, WWE has not been the same with the arrival of Ronda Rousey.

Making her debut at the Royal Rumble, Rousey immediately made it clear that she was going to in some way be taking part at WrestleMania. She clearly stated that it would not be a title match, but a match nonetheless.

Not long after, at Elimination Chamber, Rousey signed her contract as a WWE superstar. There, it was revealed that Triple H and Stephanie McMahon only hired her to get revenge on her assault on them at WrestleMania 31.

But now, the stage is set. Rousey will be teaming up with Kurt Angle against Triple H and Stephanie McMahon in a match at WrestleMania. And naturally, as it is her debut match, Rousey and Angle seem the favorites to win.

But what if that wasn’t the case? What if Triple H and Stephanie were to beat Rousey and Angle, but more specifically, Angle?

The idea here is that while they lose, it is not cleanly. Instead, Rousey turns on her teammate at the very end.

Ever since the events of Survivor Series 2017, Angle has been considered a thorn in the side of Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. Much like Mick Foley before him, Angle, in the eyes of the former Authority, is a common enemy. So much like Foley, they have to get rid of him.

Enter Ronda Rousey.

Knowing how much she wants to be a part of the WWE, they make her an offer she can’t refuse. She becomes a “hitwoman” for Triple H and Stephanie, with her first target being the Raw General Manager.

They then make it so that it sounds like Kurt Angle overheard the two talking about how much they wanted to get their revenge on Rousey for what she did at WrestleMania 31. And to earn Angle’s trust, they have Rousey beat up Triple H and Stephanie every week. That then leads to the match being made, with Angle having full trust that Rousey will be in his corner.

So that then leads when the match happens, it will come as a total shock to Angle. But more importantly, it will come as a shock to the WWE Universe.

With her debut, WWE has made it so that Rousey has the potential to be the biggest babyface in he entire women’s division. For one, she’s a celebrity, and they tend to be more towards being a babyface. Not only that, but she’s already immensely popular with the WWE Universe.

So for WWE to take the biggest potential babyface and immediately turn her into a heel is storytelling at it’s finest. It is a swerve that nobody would see coming, and would more than likely be accepted by the WWE Universe.

But it wouldn’t just be great storytelling. It would also be great for her character. Right now, Rousey is doing just fine as a babyface. Her work on the mic was a bit rough at first, but it’s improving on a weekly basis. But it’s always felt like something was missing.

By turning her heel, WWE has the chance to unlock vaults of charisma in Rousey that would be phenomenal. They could make her absolutely detestable, and it would be brilliant. It already worked with Brock Lesnar, so it ought to with Rousey.

WrestleMania is a place where anything can happen. WWE also has the opportunity to make the biggest star they possibly could out or Ronda Rousey. Granted, this swerve is not likely to happen on the Grandest Stage. But if WWE were to book things properly, they would make a great deal of money for them.
