By Harmony Cox
Sendai Girls has officially launched Sendai Global, their English language Twitter, and has promised a YouTube and on-demand video presence as well.
Get ready to add another Pivotshare account to your viewing list, because Sendai Global is here.
Sendai Girls (or Senjo) is a women’s wrestling promotion in Japan. The promotion maybe isn’t as well known to English-speaking audiences as New Japan Pro Wrestling or Stardom, but if you watch women’s wrestling, you have seen members of the Sendai Girls roster making their mark at recent events.
Meiko Satomura is the most well-known Sendai Girls ambassador, serving as co-founder, booker, and trainer for talent as well as one of their most well-known stars. English-speaking audiences may know her from her appearances in CHIKARA’s King of Trios Tournaments or her work with Pro Wrestling EVE (including her recent Match of The Year contender with Kay Lee Ray at WrestleQueendom).
Satomura isn’t the only talent to watch at Senjo. Other roster members and alumni include hardcore wrestler DASH Chisako, who has also appeared at Stardom and EVE, and Kagetsu, who you may know from Stardom’s beloved heel stable Oedo Tai or her excellent match with Sumie Sakai at this year’s Women of Honor tournament.
If you’re a fan of women’s wrestling (or great wrestling in general), this is exciting news. Sendai Girls matches are known for their quality wrestling and showcase great talents. (Check out their YouTube page here for a preview.)
Sendai Global is a great opportunity for new audiences to connect with some of the best joshi talent working in Japan. The on-demand channel is not yet available, but the Twitter page has teased some awesome content, including a show planned for May 26th and an intriguing photo of Meiko Satomura hanging out with Trent Seven. We’re looking forward to seeing what they share with us next.
