5 Independent Wrestlers We Would Love to See One Day Join WWE

2. Meiko Satomura
When rumors of Io Shirai coming to WWE first emerged, many said that WWE was signing one of the two best women wrestlers in the world. The other? Meiko Satomura. The founder of Sendai Girls’ Pro Wrestling, Satomura is legendary in Japan, and a shot in WWE would be the best chance for her to get the major recognition she deserves in the United States.
Believe it or not, Satomura is the only performer on this list who worked for World Championship Wrestling back in the day. In 1996-1997, WCW formed a business relationship with Gaea Japan, Satomura’s home promotion at the time. WCW worked with the joshi company to build their women’s division. But that brief bit of US exposure early in her career was nothing compared to her visits to CHIKARA over the past several years.
Satomura brought some of her Sendai Girls wrestlers to the 2012 King of Trios tournament, and the trio made it to the semifinals before falling to Mike Bennett and the Young Bucks. But Sendai Girls were the fan favorites of the tournament, returning in 2016 to win the whole thing and become the first ever female winners of the tournament.
If you’ve never seen a Meiko Satomura match, you are really missing out. Joshi isn’t for everyone, and that’s okay. But Satomura is such a talented wrestler that she transcends the joshi genre. Just the thought of her locking horns with Sasha Banks is intoxicating. How about Ronda Rousey? Or even renewing her rivalry with Asuka? Oh, man, sign this woman now.
