Tommaso Ciampa Addresses Johnny Gargano
Tommaso Ciampa’s feud with Johnny Gargano has been the best rivalry of 2018, hands down. The two men have been feuding for some time now, and yet their segments still manage to feel like the most exciting thing on the show.
Ciampa comes out to kick things off last night, walking to the ring to a chorus of boos and some serious heat.
Ciampa takes the mic and sits on the turnbuckle. He says that the fans disgust him and tells them to continue chanting if they want, he couldn’t care less. He continues to run them down before moving on to Gargano.
He says Gargano is an attention seeker, and that his actions last week were ridiculous. He mockingly renames him ‘Johnny Badass’ and the crowd begin to chant that.
He brings up Gargano knocking out his own wife and says that Gargano’s reckless actions are the reason that happened. He says that he will end the Gargano fairytale in Chicago, and that it isn’t going to be pretty.
The crowd cheer as Gargano appears on the stage, fighting off several officials who are trying to hold him back. Gargano runs to the ring and Ciampa gets out, Gargano then dives at him between the ropes and the two men brawl through the crowd.
The crowd are super hyped for this and they continue brawling, with Gargano hitting a dive onto Ciampa over the stairs in the crowd.
They eventually end up back in the ring, and Ciampa manages to lay out Gargano when he is fighting off several officials. Ciampa locks in the Gargano Escape. He leaves him lying as he exits the ring.

The watermark appears in the bottom corner as Ciampa waves goodbye to Gargano, but Gargano then runs out of the ring and beats down Ciampa, repeatedly throwing him into the LED boards and busting him open. The show then closes with Gargano locking Ciampa in the Gargano escape and Ciampa tapping out. Seriously, this was awesome.
Gargano and Ciampa continue to blow fans away week in, week out, and their match at Takeover: Chicago has all the makings of another five-star classic. There is nothing that is even in the same league as this right now on the main roster.

Once again, NXT delivered an awesome show this week. The matches were kept short and sweet and there were several excellent segments. The build to Takeover: Chicago continues to eclipse the main roster’s lacklustre build and the show itself will likely do the same.
