WWE Raw: Sami Zayn Should Return As A Commentator

Sami Zayn is out after suffering two torn rotator cuffs, but his mouth is still capable of creating must see TV, which is why he should be a commentator.

As reported earlier, Sami Zayn is out of action due to injury. Apparently, Sami was working with two torn rotator cuffs all throughout his feud with Bobby Lashley, and now he will undergo surgery on both. This will likely keep Zayn out of in ring competition until at least 2019.

This is some heartbreaking news for Sami and his fans because he is such a joy to watch inside the ring.

After turning heel and playing second fiddle to Kevin Owens for the majority of his most recent run, it seemed like Sami was finally starting to hit his stride as a singles competitor in this new role on Raw.

Sadly, it looks like Sami will have to rehab his injuries and start from scratch once he returns, and hopefully it will be in time for WrestleMania 35. BUT, what if Sami didn’t need to  start from scratch? What if he could continue to be on TV on a weekly basis to build up his character and intrigue for future matches? Well, that could certainly happen!

Sami Zayn could join the Raw commentary team while recovering from his injury. Sami has been gold on the mic lately with his snarky over the top attitude and promos, and that kind of banter would be a great addition to the announce team.

Superstars in the past like Austin Aries and CM Punk have had success at commentating while rehabbing injuries, and I feel as though Sami would be able to do just as well, if not better than those Superstars before him.

Just imagine Sami’s fake adoration when a babyface hits an impressive move or calls out a heel, and think of how hilarious it would be to have Sami Zayn try to justify the actions of heels, especially his best friend Kevin Owens. And, I’m sure his banter with Michael Cole and other commentators would be top notch.

I certainly don’t think this idea is very farfetched because it would be pretty easy to squeeze him into the booth. Corey Graves is currently working both Raw and SmackDown, so Zayn could alleviate Graves from his Raw  duties and take over as the heel commentator there.

Or, since Graves is such a valuable cog in the wheel of the commentary team, Zayn could sit alongside Cole and Graves, which would get rid of the horrid debacle that is the Booker T and Coach situation. Of course, this would mean Graves would have to take on more of a face role, or Cole would have to call the show in a babyface perspective.

Either way, however, the addition of Sami Zayn would definitely be an upgrade. His promos as a heel targeting the likes of Bobby Lashley, Shane McMahon, Daniel Bryan, Kurt Angle, and others have been top notch, and he can bring that same kind of entertainment to the booth.

Sami Zayn is way too valuable to WWE programming to get kept off of TV for 6+ months. If we can’t see the man wrestle, we should at least get to hear the man talk!
