WWE Raw: Creative Again Misses The Boat With Banks Vs Bayley
By Tom Thomas
WWE Raw has been telling the story of a shaken alliance between Sasha Banks and Bayley. However, creative keeps messing things up.
WWE Raw was a disappointing piece of television this week to say the least. You would probably know what I mean by this and it is simply too much to go through the painful details of the show that unfolded before our eyes. When even Braun Strowman can’t save the day, then you know you’ve got a real problem. When the fans chant ‘Holy S**t’ for literal reasons, then you know you’ve got a real bad problem.
That was not the only negative about Raw this week. A week ago, Bayley had finally given way to months and months of frustration and pent-up anger. The Huggable One took it to the Boss after losing a match to the Riott Squad. You could hear the fans in attendance roaring in approval for this, as a heel turn — or any kind of character change — was exactly what Bayley needed.
We wouldn’t have to see the prototypical babyface and the smiles and the hugs anymore. Gone were the days of the pure babyface who was being ran over by every heel on the roster. Standing before you was a bad-ass character, who had just evolved right in front of our eyes into a maniacal presence, hellbent on avenging everyone for the months and months of frustration she had endured.

This moment left the feud red-hot and brimming with momentum. We expected some kind of explanation from Bayley for her actions; even though we all knew why she did what she did. A strong promo that would turn her career around was what was needed at the moment.
Instead what did we get? The return of Doctor Shelby, which is the only positive out of all this so far.
Some horribly written backstage segments, trying to mimic and perhaps milk out some excitement from the reunion of Team Hell No just made it worse. Bayley went from a compelling possible heel to a whining baby (not babyface, just baby) in a matter of seconds. Banks wasn’t good either. Overall, the segments dragged out and once again drained the life force out of this feud.

Creative was already too late to pull the trigger on this rivalry. It should have kicked off when Banks first turned on Bayley at the Elimination Chamber. From there, it dragged all the way until now. By the looks of it, this feud will only end in disappointing manner and Bayley has lost whatever heat and fan interest she gained from her attack on Banks a week ago.
