5 Dream Ring Of Honor Matches with Impact’s Sami Callihan

facebooktwitterreddit

Just who is Sami Callihan? Well, he’s a wrestler with Impact who is all about beating the hell out of people. Callihan has attacked everyone from Don Callis to Eddie Edward, nobody is safe from his wrath. Whilst he may seem like a loose cannon, Callihan is a incredibly talented wrestler who could cause some problems for Ring of Honor wrestlers.

Recently, he called out Ring of Honor and Chris Jericho saying,

"WATCH NOW/RT:Let’s see who this video message PISSES off!I’m calling out @IAmJericho, @jericho_cruise, & the entire @ringofhonor roster!I bet none of these ROH clowns, or the #BulletClub even have the BALLS to respond!#TheDraw(@IMPACTWRESTLING, make sure you RT this) https://t.co/p1gj4hru0l@TheSamiCallihan"

It has since been announced that
Sami will be fighting Marty Scurll on the JeriCruise:

"@MartyScrull is going toe to toe with @TheSamiCallihan for a true slaughter on the water! The ONLY place to see @ringofhonor vs. @IMPACTWRESTLING is on board The Ship of Jericho! Book TODAY to experience this once in a lifetime event! https://t.co/Sb1g2fWVVY https://t.co/fdNkk3Gs@jericho_cruise"

With that match up announced, here’s who I’d like Sami Callihan to face from ROH:

1) Cody

Cody has only gotten better and better ever since breaking away from WWE. In both ROH and NJPW he’s had some truly amazing matches, from going against Kenny Omega twice, to his feud with Kota Ibushi. He’s had many title shots and titles reigns, so it would be very interesting to see him go against Sami Callahan. Sami doesn’t hold back when he wrestles, which means a Fight Without Honor match would be perfect for them. Cody even Powerbombed Christopher Daniels through a flaming table at ROH Survival of the Fittest, so he’d definitely provide something memorable.

2) Adam Page

Probably not a conventional choice, but I think Page is an underrated contender. Last year, Page tore the house down in a strap match against Frankie Kazarian, he whipped Kazarian very hard with the leather strap and even though he lost (Kazarian hung him with the strap) it was still nuts.

Page does all sorts of crazy stuff, like throwing himself off of a balcony at the Hammerstein Ballroom reminiscent to something from ECW. He often gives stellar performances, like during his recent match with Kenny Omega where he cut Omega’s head open by nailing a Rite of Passage. Another strap match for Page would probably be right up Callahan’s street, as each man would tear each other up.

3) Christopher Daniels

Christopher Daniel would definitely take a fight with Callihan to another level. As previously mentioned, he had a match with Cody where he was put through a flaming table, but it’s more than that. Daniels regularly teams with Frankie Kazarian, and they are both legends in the ring, experience over brutality is what Daniels could add, as he’s been wrestling for 25 years. A Scramble Cage would work best, because the idea of both Callihan and Daniels trying to eliminate each other by diving onto a platform above the steel cage sounds like great fun.

4) Punishment Martinez

Another unusual choice, but in the words of his bio on ROH Wrestling’s official site:

"Martinez, who possesses the size and power of a super heavyweight, the agility and athleticism of a junior heavyweight, and an extensive martial arts background, also has a pronounced sadistic streak."

It’s easy to see why he’d be a good match for Sami Callihan, and a match between these two would be an absolute dream. Martinez has had a brief time in NJPW where he teamed with Los Inglornables De Japon members Hirmou Takahashi and Tetseyu Naito to take on Hiroshi Tanahasi, Dalton Castle and Ryusuke Taguchi. Martinez is current ROH World Television Championship after defeating Silas Young, so he definitely has the potential to succeed against Sami Callihan.

Before I reveal my fifth and final choice, here are a few honourable mentions; Chucky T, Trent Baretta, Bully Ray, Silas Young, Frankie Kazarian and Jay and Mark Briscoe.

5) Vinny Marseglia

Dubbed “the Horror King” and coming to the ring with an axe and wearing a grotesque mask, Marseglia also has a sadistic edge that would gel fantastically with Sami Callihan. With Marseglia’s horror gimmick, and Callihan’s “will attack you just because” gimmick, this would be something truly explosive and wonderful to watch.

So that’s the five I believe would have an excellent match with Sami Callihan. Who knows what the future will bring, maybe one day we could see Callihan in the ring with any of these.
