The Rock: ‘I Can’t Wait To Get Back Into The WWE Ring’

The Rock hasn’t wrestled in a WWE ring since defeating Erick Rowan in six seconds at WrestleMania 32, but most people don’t even like to remember that. He recently stated in an interview that he “can’t wait” to get back into the ring.

Although The Rock has become one of the most successful movie stars of the modern era, he has remained all WWE through and through.

Likely the most charismatic wrestler to ever pick up a microphone and cut a promo on our collective candy asses, he recently spoke with WWE’s Cathy Kelly at the premiere for his new action movie “Skyscraper”.

Of course, The Rock said that he cannot wait to get back into a WWE ring, and he spoke about how special it is to be inside of the ring, whether it is cutting a savage promo or having a match that has the audience on the edge of its seats.

"“I can’t wait to get back into the WWE ring. Everybody always asks me, ‘what’s it like being in a WWE ring?’ I always tell them there’s nothing like it. There’s a certain live crowd acumen, there’s great connective tissue that’s second to none. That was, and will always be the best part of my job, whether I’m actually wrestling a match, or just giving a promo. That connection with the audience, there’s nothing like it.”"

It would be beyond exciting to see The Rock back in a WWE ring, no matter what happens. Hell, even if he beats someone else in six seconds WrestleMania, I’d be down for it for the simple fact that it’s The Rock! And I mean, that’s what Curt Hawkins is for, right?

Anyway, you can put The Brahma Bull on the list of past legends I’d most want to see back in the ring, which is a list that includes Batista, who has been angling for a return. WWE had Trish Stratus, Michelle McCool, Lita, and more at the Women’s Royal Rumble, and we will see Kaitlyn at the second Mae Young Classic.  So yeah, I’m very much here for more nostalgia, especially if it includes a little “People’s Elbow” action.

We haven’t seen The People’s Champ in a full match since he lost to John Cena at WrestleMania 29 in a match that passed the torch, and I’d be cool with not seeing him in a full match. But if he feels like he can go and the right opponent is available for him, then, well, I’m a sucker for moments that take me back to my childhood.
