All In 2018: Jordynne Grace Eliminated Brian Cage To Heat Up Their Feud

Jordynne Grace and Brian Cage went toe-to-toe in tonight’s Over-Budget Battle Royale, setting up their upcoming singles match in Beyond Wrestling later this month.

There were plenty of surprises in All In: Zero Hour’s feature match, from Marko Stunt’s impressive performance to the “shocking” addition of a “masked luchador” who turned out to be Flip Gordon in disguise. Though Jordynne Grace didn’t wind up winning the battle royale (you cowards), she did turn in an impressive performance before being ousted from the ring by Bully Ray himself.

The petite but powerful Grace faced down some of the best male wrestlers the industry has to offer, including veterans like Billy Gunn. In a match jam-packed with breathtaking athleticism and tongue-in-cheek spots like Jimmy Jacobs’ cheeky Triple H taunt and pedigree attempt, Grace made herself a standout with her skill and charisma.

In one of the high spots of the entire battle royale, Grace managed to get the Swolverine Brian Cage on her shoulders not just for a powerbomb, but a powerbomb where she carried him to the center of the ring and threw him down with a statement-making slam. Taking advantage of his surprise, Grace charged him and threw him over the top rope with ease, eliminating him and snatching a shot at the Ring of Honor World Championship out from under him.

This wasn’t just about Grace as a token intergender competitor, though. “Thank you everyone, so much,” Grace tweeted after the match. “This was a dream come true. Win or lose, I proved women can stand as equal.” Though Chikara has long booked its title as a championship that anyone could challenge for, it was great to see Jordynne Grace seize an opportunity to prove that could work in any promotion. Grace and Cage’s brief face-off was an excellent taste of what viewers can expect in their singles match at Beyond Wrestling’s “Somebody’s Farewell, Probably …” on September 16.
