All In Wrestling 2018: A Thank You Letter For A Historic Show

All In 2018 on Sept. 1 will forever go down in the annals of wrestling history, thanks to Matt Jackson, Nick Jackson, and Cody Rhodes.

Over a year ago, Cody took a bet that an independent company couldn’t sell out a 10,000 seat arena. He teamed up with brothers Matt and Nick Jackson, and All In was born.

For months fans wondered what the card would be, what arena would have the honor of holding the historic event, and what day it would be on. Over the next few months, the saga would take shape, and we would figure all of this out.

Cody and the Young Bucks picked out the Sears Centre for their venue and Sept. 1 as the day that they would make their mark in wrestling history.

When tickets went on sale, no one knew how long it would take for the arena to sell out, and without a card announced, everyone thought it would take a while. But it sold out in just under 30-minutes, the wrestling world was shocked, and everyone began to realize how epic this night was going to be for all of wrestling.

The wrestling world was set ablaze, and it was all because three guys had a dream, and they worked their butts off to make it happen.

When September 1st finally got here everyone was interested in what would happen in the Sears Centre. The wrestling world was clinging to their TV’s, and it was a night to forever be remembered.

But, this is where the “Thank You” letter begins:

Dear Matt, Nick, and Cody,

Thank you for making the impact that you have. In one night, it seems, you have breathed a breath of new life into independent wrestling. While it’s been a long time coming, tonight was final exhale in a long year of brilliance.

Everyone was on the edge of their seats from the opening bell, to the main event six-man tag match. While the matches were great from start to finish, and the stories told in the ring will forever be remembered, it’s what you three have done that will make the most difference in the long run.

You have taken independent wrestling off of life support. For a while there, it was a close call.

WWE seemed to have a tight grip on the wrestling scene in America, and you all have started loosening that grip.

While many others helped to start the process, tonight was the first step in getting the grip to start to open. The first finger popped if you will. *Obligatory Woop-Woop*

Tonight got so many new eyes on independent wrestling at its finest. Wrestling as a whole is at it’s best when there are multiple options to chose from. If we all had to rely on one promotion to keep us entertained wrestling would be maddening. It’s a variety that keeps fans coming back.

Getting a great fast-paced Seth Rollins match on Raw, and then a great technical Kenny Omega match at a New Japan show is what makes wrestling so great.

Last night continued the old promise of “chase your dreams” and you’ll catch them. You guys had a dream, selling out an arena, just to prove that you could, and you made it happen.

Another great thing about wrestling is watching as your favorite wrestler proves everyone wrong, and you three did that tonight. You took what many thought to be impossible, and super-kicked it into a reality.

Thank You for proving that independent wrestling is alive and well.

Sincerely,

Shayne Merriman
A very gracious fan.
