Daily She-DT: Becky Lynch Isn’t Overlooked Anymore, Scarlett Bordeaux’s Search

facebooktwitterreddit

In today’s Daily She-DT, we look at Becky Lynch’s rise, Scarlett Bordeaux’s upcoming casting call, and some Kiera Hogan news.

Let’s start with Becky Lynch, who is the WWE Superstar that appears the most frequently in this daily feature. Lynch is the SmackDown Women’s Championship, having defeated rival Charlotte Flair at Hell in a Cell in an excellent match. The two could have an even better bout at Evolution on Oct. 28 if WWE lets them main event, but that remains to be seen.

Until then, Becky is busy antagonizing both WWE and Charlotte Flair, portraying the role of the antihero to a “T”. Few are better than Becky at trolling rivals on social media. From her “I boo the woo” T-Shirt to her attack on Flair at a photo shoot, Becky has been sublime as SmackDown Live’s most bad-ass champion.

Lynch has a massive chip on her shoulder, and that’s what drives her to excel as a champion, simply plowing through anybody who stands in her way. You know, even if they are masquerading as her best friend. Becky believes that everyone else is simply holding her back from greatness, and that chip on her boulder shoulders will never leave her.

You want another example of her determination and her burgeoning me-against-the-world mentality? Take a look at this tweet directed at WWE. Becky is nowhere to be found on the WWE Super Show-Down, which takes place in Melbourne this week on Oct. 6, poster. That is inexplicable, given that Becky is the SmackDown Women’s Champion and one of the most popular wrestlers on the roster today. As champion, Becky has done nothing but make headlines, so surely she must be on every PPV poster, right?

Her response to this was simply, “And people wonder why I think I’ve been overlooked.”

Although I wouldn’t put it past WWE to have done this on purpose to give Becky some more ammunition, it is true that she was overlooked by WWE. It took her years to get back into the title picture, and she’s been a hit ever since returning to the top of the card. In the main event of SmackDown Live, she set the arena on fire by simply toying with Charlotte.

Becky was once overlooked, but she is overlooked no longer. As the SmackDown Women’s Champion, she just might be the face of the brand, and the reactions she receives from the crowd are stunning. It’s been quite the run so far for Becky in her second reign as champ, and the fans will hope it lasts as long as possible. Few stories in 2018 have been as entertaining as Becky’s reascension to the top.

Kiera Hogan vs. Su Yung

On the previous week’s episode of Impact Wrestling, Kiera Hogan and Allie teamed up to face Su Yung and her Undead Bridesmaid of Honor, with Hogan snagging the decisive pinfall on Yung. It was a significant moment for Hogan, because it’s a huge deal to pin Yung. The Undead Bride is a former Knockouts Champion who boasts a title victory over Madison Rayne at Slammiversary.

Hogan will get her chance to prove that this tag team victory was no fluke, as she will take on Su Yung in singles action on the upcoming episode of Impact. Rosemary, who is Allie’s best friend, had a cryptic message ahead of this matchup. Recall that Rosemary was written off of television when Su trapped her inside of a casket, and this event caused Allie to take the next step forward as something of a vigilante character on Impact Wrestling.

Over the past several weeks, it’s become clear that Hogan is ready to take the next step as a bigger player in the Knockouts Division. She’s no longer just a “rising” star. Hogan is, as of right now, a legitimate star in the Knockouts Division, going off of the fact that tag matches light up whenever she enters the ring. The crowd is behind the “fireball”, and I’d love to see her build more momentum as she continues this intriguing storyline with Allie by her side.

In more Kiera Hogan news, the exciting talent will be at SHIMMER’s 105-108 tapings in Illinois on Oct. 20 and 21, so be sure to keep an eye out for that.

Tenille Dashwood Injured But Reportedly Close To Signing

At Ring of Honor’s television tapings following their Death Before Dishonor Pay Per View, Tenille Dashwood spoke openly to the crowd about how rough her last several months have been due to her psoriasis and a shoulder injury. Dashwood came into her Women of Honor Championship match against title-holder Sumie Sakai with a taped right shoulder that was heavily targeted by Sakai, eventually leading to the finish where Dashwood passed out in an armbar.

Before Dashwood informed the crowd about her injury, the finish to that Death Before Dishonor match seemed puzzling. The audience at the show was 100% behind Dashwood winning the title in her first opportunity, as she lost to Sakai in the semifinals of the Women of Honor Tournament at Supercard of Honor in April.

Because Dashwood was legitimately injured and will need to undergo surgery on her shoulder, however, it makes complete sense for Sakai to return. The newly-signed Madison Rayne could be the first woman to take the title of Sakai, though she did lose to Sakai on the Sept. 2 episode of Ring of Honor.

We all hope Dashwood has a full and speedy recovery, and the time off could do her wonders due to wrestling’s grueling nature.

Additionally, PWInsider.com’s Mike Johnson reported yesterday that Dashwood is expected to officially sign with ROH “shortly”, meaning that she will likely join Rayne as cornerstones of the promising Women of Honor division.

Also, Dashwood is a total bad-ass for wrestling through a shoulder injury, being open about psoriasis, and putting on a good match at Death Before Dishonor.

Scarlett Bordeaux’s Casting Call

Last week on Impact Wrestling, Scarlett Bordeaux made her huge announcement. She’s ready to commit to managing just one wrestler, and it can be a man or a woman. Bordeaux has put out an open call for auditions, and it will be hilarious to see how various members of the roster try to “woo” the “Smoke Show”.

Having Bordeaux in your corner sounds like a damn cheat code, because, as she was swift to point out, she helped Fallah Bah come within an eighth of a second of pinning Impact World Champion Austin Aries. Not only does Bordeaux radiate confidence, but she empowers other characters on the show to be the best versions of themselves.

What makes this storyline even more exciting is the fact that I cannot being to guess who she could manage, so I will be glued to my screen for as long as this “casting call” lasts. Already, Bordeaux has established herself as a must-see member of the Impact roster, even if she isn’t an in-ring talent (yet).
