Daily She-DT: Allie vs. Su Yung Intensifies, Goddess Of STARDOM Tag League

Today’s Daily She-DT looks the big storylines in Impact Wrestling, namely the ongoing rivalry between Su Yung and Allie, and STARDOM’s upcoming Goddess of Stardom Tag League.

Let’s start with Allie, who has taken it upon herself to be the savior of the Knockouts Division in Impact Wrestling, which has been terrorized by Su Yung for months. Though the equally dangerous Tessa Blanchard is now the Knockouts Champion, Yung remains the most nefarious member of the Impact roster, even moreso than Killer Kross, Murder Clown, and kidnapper Moose.

Yung is a serial kidnapper, so Moose has a long ways to go before he can even hope to approach Yung’s criminal record. Not only did this woman trap Rosemary in a coffin months ago before setting that coffin ablaze, but she’s also trapped Kiera Hogan, who was Allie’s only confidant with Rosemary having vanished into “The Shadow” (or something like that).

After Hogan sacrificed herself so that Allie wouldn’t be trapped in the casket as a result of Yung’s disgusting version of the “Mandible Claw”, Allie suffered a complete break down. This was yet another chilling video produced by Impact Wrestling’s top-notch production team.

Allie vs. Yung never ended as a feud, and it has only intensified after Yung took away The Bunny’s latest friend. It’s awful to see how hard Allie is taking this, but I have a feeling she’ll have the ultimate response planned for The Undead Bride.

The IIconics Are Ready For “A-Sucker” And Naomi

Before the IIconics match against Naomi and Asuka at WWE Super Show-Down in Melbourne, Australia, Billie Kay and Peyton Royce were interviewed by Nine News Melbourne’s Seb Costello.

Although Costello has done a fantastic job of covering this event, he couldn’t quite pronounce Asuka’s name correctly. It sounded like he called the Empress of Tomorrow “A-Sucker”, which Royce quickly picked up on. The IIconics had a great laugh about that line, and the fact that Royce didn’t miss this opportunity to make a quick joke at Asuka’s expense was brilliant.

Since the IIconics come out with microphones every single week before a match or segment on SmackDown Live, it’s quite obvious to me that they have a huge ceiling on the WWE main roster. These two have always been entertaining at whatever they do, whether it’s by talking up a storm or selling like hell in the ring. I got a great laugh out of this interview, and it’s hard not to be excited for what could happen for both Kay and Royce by this time next year.

Goddess of STARDOM Tag League

Last year, Bea Priestley and Kelly Klein won the Goddess of STARDOM Tag League, defeating Yoko Bito and Jungle Kyono in an exciting finals match that featured several close calls. It was a huge win for Klein and Priestley in their careers, as winning this tournament is a prestigious honor.

STARDOM has announced the teams and groups for this year’s tournament, which begins in mid-October and ends in early November. Hazuki and Kagetsu (World of Stardom Champion) are the team to watch in the Red Goddess division. Priestley will team up with the impressive Chardonnay this year, Session Moth Martina will join forces with Natsu Simure, and Tam Nakano and Shiki Shibusawa will be a team to watch closely. Goddess of Stardom champion Jungle Kyono works with Natsuko Tora this year, and Konami and AZM round out this tough group.

Over on the Blue Goddess side, Hana Kimura and High Speed Champion Mary Apache are a team to watch, Artist of Stardom Champion and 5-star Grand Prix winner Mayu Iwatani will look to tear it up with Saki Kashima, Leo Onozaki and Hanan will operate as a unit, Starlight Kid and Natsumi will look to make a splash, Kaori Yoneyama and Ruaka team up, and Momo Watanabe and Utami Hayashishita look like favorites to win it all.

Scarlett Bordeaux In Crazy Segments

Scarlett Bordeaux continues to be the most entertaining characters in Impact Wrestling, and while watching her backstage segment with Petey Williams, who attempted to show her the “Canadian Destroyer”, made me extremely uncomfortable, I did enjoy seeing Bordeaux feature prominently on the show.

From flustering Don Callis (much to Josh Mathews’s embarrassment) to setting up a feud between Trevor Lee and Petey, Bordeaux certainly had a hand in multiple segments. Her talent search isn’t exactly going swimmingly well, but somebody has to eventually impress her with more than just flips or sketchy attempts at teaching seminars, right?

Bordeaux is in an unenviable position in some ways, because she has to pick from an apparent scrap heap of competitors who can’t even seem to competently carry a conversation with her. Nevertheless, Bordeaux is comedic gold, though Impact will have to continue to strike the right balance between “The Office” levels of awkward and segments that fall into the “uncomfortable” range. For example, Bordeaux on commentary was great. The segment with Williams? Not so much…but at least Lee was there to have her back.

Quick Hits

  • After taking Meiko Satomura to the limit at the Mae Young Classic 2, Mercedes Martinez has a “lesson in humility” planned for Phoenix of RISE Champion Tessa Blanchard when the two meet at RISE 10 – INSANITY on Oct. 19. Martinez and Blanchard will square off for the title in a 60-minute Iron Woman Match, which figures to be one of the most exciting bouts of the month. Blanchard needs to get knocked down a peg, and if Taya Valkyrie can’t do it at Bound For Glory, then Martinez could be the one to send that message to “The Diamond”.
  • LuFisto (Canada) vs. Jordynne Grace (USA) at Smash Wrestling’s #CANUSA is going to be something special. Oh, and Veda Scott (USA) vs. Xandra Bale (Canada) sounds quite exciting, too.
  • Yesterday, Xia Brookside faced Lana Austin at Kamikaze Pro’s show in Coventry.
  • Natalya’s latest awesome column focused on Trish Stratus, who will play a critical role at the Evolution PPV, just as she’s played a critical role in women’s wrestling as a whole.
  • Shazza McKenzie and Karen Q will both be at the upcoming RISE and SHIMMER show tapings this month.
  • It’s about damn time, but it sounds like WWE finally realizes just how friggin’ good Becky Lynch is, especially when it comes to cutting promos.
