Rey Fenix could be out of action for months after suffering injury

Impact Wrestling, MLW and Lucha Underground star Rey Fenix has been pulled from a show in Canada after being injured Friday night

Rey Fenix has apparently suffered an injury that could keep him out of the wrestling ring for several months.

Fenix was booked to appear at a Destiny Wrestling show in the Toronto area on Sunday (Nov. 25) in the main event – a triple-threat match against defending interim champion Josh Alexander and Rich Swann – but has been pulled, the organization announced on social media this afternoon.

“Fenix was injured last night and is out of action for few months! we will shuffle the card around to still make this an amazing experience for everyone,” reads a Twitter post.

“Injuries, flight issues and personal issues always happen in wrestling and we will try to overcome and still present a great superior product for all to enjoy!” reads a follow-up post.

Fenix suffered an apparent groin injury during a match for CMLL in Mexico on Nov. 23. Fenix posted on Instagram that he suffered a “muscular strain” in his groin and will take the remainder of 2018 off, thanking fans for their well-wishes following the injury.

He was also booked to appear for AAW in the Chicago area on Nov. 24.

Along with his brother, Pentagon Jr., Fenix is among the hottest names on the independent scene right now, primarily known for his work with Impact Wrestling, MLW and Lucha Underground.

Should the rumored injury prove true, the loss of Fenix will be a particularly difficult blow for Impact and MLW.

Impact seemed to be moving towards a title match between Fenix/Pentagon and LAX for the tag championships, while the Lucha Bros. currently hold the straps in MLW.

There’s been no shortage of rumors that the WWE was keen to sign the pair of Fenix and Pentagon in recent months.
