Every Women’s Wrestling Match in WWE TLC History

Given the innate violence associated with WWE’s annual Tables, Ladders & Chairs event and the company’s long-time hesitance to have the female Superstars involved in anything remotely hard-hitting you’d understandably assume that, before the much-maligned Divas era came to an end, the presence of women’s wrestling at TLC would be practically nonexistent. That’s not the case, though.
In fact, there’s been at least one women’s match at the show every year since TLC was instated as its own pay-per-view special in 2009 and if you were to take a random sample of a couple of those matches and sit down to watch them there’s a pretty good chance you’d leave wondering what all this “give Divas a chance” stuff was about a few years back.
With all the hype surrounding the first ever women’s TLC match later this month when Becky Lynch defends the SmackDown Women’s Championship against Asuka and Charlotte Flair in a triple threat match, I decided to sit down with the WWE Network and take a stroll through the history of female WWE Superstars at TLC.

Michelle McCool VS Mickie James for the WWE Women’s Title (2009)
This match was the culmination of the infamous “Piggy James” storyline. The angle got so much attention because LayCool (Michelle McCool and Layla) ruthlessly poked fun at Mickie James for being “fat” and this was supposed to be Mickie’s big shot at revenge. Unfortunately for Mickie, she fell short.
Michelle and Mickie were always two of WWE’s more talented performers on the Divas timeline, and they put on a respectable showing for the soon to be defunct original Women’s Championship. Things were a little slow getting started but the crowd was digging it and the story had some bite, so it was a pretty good way to roll out the carpet for the next decade of women to compete at TLC.
