Report: Britt Baker Signs With All Elite Wrestling

All Elite Wrestling is official, and fans are anxiously awaiting news about the promotion’s initial talent roster. It appears Dr. Britt Baker DMD may be part of those plans, and she’d be a central part of a, hopefully, strong AEW Women’s Division.

It has been reported by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Britt Baker has signed a contract with All Elite Wrestling.  This would make Baker the second woman to have signed with the new promotion.  Brandi Rhodes was the first woman to sign to the promotion when she signed alongside her husband Cody, the Young Bucks, and Adam Page yesterday.

Baker has performed for several independent wrestling promotions throughout the country since 2015.  She has also worker with promotions such as Ring of Honor, Shimmer, and most recently WWE’s NXT brand.  While in NXT, Baker worked a set of tapings but unfortunately injured her shoulder in a match.  Baker was also a participant at All In this past September competing in the women’s fatal four-way match also involving Tessa Blanchard, Madison Rayne, and Chelsea Green.

Green recently signed with WWE this past fall and some have suspected Baker doing the same. Considering that Baker is dating current NXT star Adam Cole and she has close ties to some of the women currently signed to the developmental brand, WWE seemed to be a natural stepping stone for her career.

A huge surprise with this report is that Baker, who is an actual licensed dentist, has been hesitant to lock down long-term contracts with promotions like WWE as she does want to continue practicing in the dentistry field.  We won’t know what her plans are for sure until we know the exact extent of the contract that was reportedly signed.

This is a huge acquisition for AEW and we anticipate many more names to be announced in the very near future.
