Alexa Bliss Announces She Will Compete in the Royal Rumble
The WWE Royal Rumble is only days away, and tonight we learned of yet another name who will take part in the Women’s Royal Rumble Match. On her talk show “A Moment of Bliss,” Alexa Bliss announced she will be making her return to action this Sunday by competing in the Royal Rumble.
For the first time since losing her Raw Women’s Championship to Ronda Rousey back at Hell in a Cell last year, Alexa Bliss will return to in-ring competition to be one of the thirty women in the second-annual Women’s Royal Rumble Match.
For those who had forgotten, Alexa Bliss was initially expected to compete at WWE Evolution back in October. Bliss was scheduled to team with Mickie James against WWE Hall of Famers Trish Stratus and Lita. Unfortunately, she was pulled from the match only days before the event due to a concussion she’d suffered.
Bliss was replaced by Alicia Fox at Evolution and has since turned to a less physical role on Raw. At Survivor Series, Alexa represented Raw as the captain of women’s team pitted against SmackDown in traditional Survivor Series action. Following the team’s success, Bliss was then named the head of Raw’s women’s division by then-General Manager Elect Baron Corbin.
While it initially appeared Bliss was out due to a single concussion, she said in an interview earlier this month that she re-aggravated an earlier issue after returning to the ring too quickly. With that in mind, it’s not surprising that WWE was so careful about clearing her to return to action this time.
WWE has become increasingly careful about concussion protocol in recent years, most notably with the extended period of time where they refused to clear Daniel Bryan for in-ring action despite the insistence of outside doctors he was healthy and ready to be back in the ring.

After three months on the shelf, we’ll finally be seeing Alexa back in action at the Royal Rumble this Sunday.
While she’ll have stiff competition, a win could set the 5-time Women’s Champion on a course to recapture gold at WrestleMania 35.
With names like Ronda Rousey, Charlotte Flair, and Becky Lynch dominating the conversations about potential winners of the Women’s Rumble, Alexa Bliss might be seen as an underdog going in. While not a favorite, don’t discount Bliss when the lights are on bright.
Several times throughout her career, Alexa Bliss has proven herself when given an opportunity. Most recently, she shocked the world at last year’s Money in the Bank pay-per-view by winning the contract and cashing in that same night to steal Rousey’s moment and Nia’s title. If anyone can make their return with such a big win, it’s the mastermind, Alexa Bliss.
