AEW held a “rally” at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas ahead of their Double or Nothing show on May 25, and they announced that Aja Kong and Yuka Sakazaki will be among the wrestlers booked for the show.

Dr. Britt Baker and Penelope Ford were announced as the first two women’s signings for AEW at their first “rally” in Jacksonville, , and they announced two more signings in Las Vegas, adding Kylie Rae and Nyla Rose to their Women’s Division.

Brandi Rhodes, who will also be occasionally wrestling for AEW, also announced in Vegas tonight that Yuka Sakazaki and Aja Kong will be joining the promotion for its first Pay Per View, the Double or Nothing show in Las Vegas on May 25.

Pac vs. Hangman Page, The Young Bucks vs. The Lucha Bros., and Rae vs. Rose all seem like locked-in matches for AEW’s first show, based on the confrontations that occurred at this “rally”.

It’s unclear what Sakazaki and Kong will do at Double or Nothing, but the fact that both women will be appearing for AEW is huge. Wrestling fans have been wondering if AEW will use Japanese women’s wrestlers in their division and how they will use them, given the fears of too many wrestlers in the country being signed away by bigger promotions.

Kong and Sakazaki haven’t been officially signed by AEW, and they’ll be a huge addition to the promotion’s first show. Sakazaki is an exciting wrestler from Tokyo Joshi Pro, and while she isn’t a big name, fans who are familiar with her work in TJP can attest to her ability. She is an excellent wrestler, and Double or Nothing will give her an opportunity to show wrestling fans in the United States that she’s indeed worthy of their attention and admiration.

Aja Kong is, of course, a wrestler who has already earned everyone’s attention and admiration over the years as one of the legends of the business. The founder of Arsion, Aja is an All Japan Hall of Famer, a former Sendai Girls Champion, and the owner of some of the most acclaimed matches in wrestling history.

She can still go in the ring, and Aja’s addition to the Double or Nothing card adds an indescribable amount of cred and mystique to the show. Aja is the definition of a legend, and it is awesome to see that AEW was able to get both her and Sakazaki, a potential breakout star to a United States audience, on this show.
