WWE: Natalya And Beth Phoenix vs. Nia Jax And Tamina Sounds Exciting

The Boss’N’Hug Connection, Sasha Banks and Bayley, retained the Women’s Tag Team Championships against Nia Jax and Tamina in their first title defense at WWE Fastlane, but the post-match angle involving Beth Phoenix and Natalya stole the show.

Last year before the Women’s Tag Team Championships became a reality, Beth Phoenix and Natalya, who once formed a tag team in WWE called “The Divas of Doom”, teased a potential matchup against Sasha Banks and Bayley.

So when Phoenix appeared as a guest commentator for the WWE Fastlane 2019 match between Sasha Banks and Bayley and Nia Jax and Tamina for the Women’s Tag Team Championships, I naturally thought that there could be a potential angle involving Beth and a partner facing off against Bayley and Banks for the new titles.

Instead, Beth ended up being involved in an angle with the heels, which probably fits better.

Bayley countered Nia into a hurricanrana for an AWESOME victory, allowing the Boss’N’Hug Connection to retain the titles in their first defense. However, Nia and Tamina didn’t take the loss well, which came as no surprise, beating both Sasha and Bayley at ringside.

Phoenix took exception to this distasteful act, calling out the heels for their actions. She removed the headset and stared down Tamina before blasting her to the ground. Nia then attacked Beth from behind, and the heels used the numbers game to their advantage before rolling Phoenix into the ring.

And who else would make the save for Phoenix but Natalya. Her close friend and former tag team partner did her best to save Phoenix, and the events that unfolded at Fastlane make it seem like The Divas of Doom, Beth Phoenix and Natalya, will take on Nia Jax and Tamina at WWE WrestleMania 35 on Apr. 7.

This is a match featuring four dominant wrestlers, and it will be awesome. Nia, Beth, and Nattie were all on a “Table for 3” episode together that focused on themes of body positivity and female empowerment. Inside the ring, Tamina, Nattie, and Beth are three respected veterans of this business, and Nia has become an important part of Raw as one of WWE’s most hated heels.

The Boss’N’Hug Connection will have an instant classic scheduled for WrestleMania where their titles will be on the line, presumably with the IIconics and Sky Pirates involved, but it’s great to see WWE taking women’s tag team wrestling seriously by teasing a second match for the Show of Shows. The Divas of Doom vs. Nia and Tamina will be on the lighter side, but there could be some memorable moments, especially with wrestlers like Beth and Nia, who have wanted to face off against each other for some time, involved.
