Report: WWE signs former X-Division Champion DJZ
WWE have added yet another notable name to their roster, as they’ve reportedly agreed to terms with former Impact Wrestling standout DJZ.
Widely regarded as one of the most underrated wrestlers around, DJZ has signed a deal with WWE, according to a recent report from PWInsider.com’s Mike Johnson. Per Johnson, it’s unclear if DJZ will report to the Performance Center, which has recently added Stokely Hathaway and former Impact Wrestling tag team champion Robbie E (Robbie Strauss) .
DJZ is an incredibly gifted in-ring competitor who has wrestled all over the world, notably winning Impact’s X-Division championship twice, and he recently won the Impact Tag Team Championships with another recently departed wrestler in Andrew Everett.
WWE is the perfect venue for DJZ to showcase his talents, and 205 Live General Manager Drake Maverick already teased having eyes on him back when the 32-year-old made it known that he’d be leaving Impact for free agency in 2019. (Johnson reports that the deal between both parties was agreed to in late February.)
205 Live has remained WWE’s most exciting hour of television in terms of pure in-ring work, even with Mustafa Ali showcasing his talents to the main roster audience. Cedric Alexander and Tony Nese will fight on Mar. 19 for the opportunity to take on Cruiserweight Champion Buddy Murphy at WrestleMania 35, concluding another electric tournament on the Purple Brand.
But WWE has put several cruiserweights, not just Ali, on the main roster recently, with elite talents Ricochet and Johnny Gargano called up directly from NXT to Raw and SmackDown in recent months. Though DJZ isn’t as big of a name as Gargano and Ricochet were, diehard wrestling fans swear by his ability, and he has plenty of experience in this business, specifically at TNA/Impact over the years.

His role with WWE will be intriguing, specifically if he reports to the Performance Center and where he starts out, whether that’s NXT or 205. DJZ can be an asset to WWE, and it seems like fans have only scratched the surface when it comes to seeing what the 32-year-old is capable of as a wrestler and character; working with the best coaches in the industry should help him take his next game to the next level, too.
