Wrestling Rumor Reactions: Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania, The Undertaker in Saudi Arabia?
By Tom Colohue
The world of wrestling rumors is a fast paced minefield, with WWE, Impact, NJPW, AEW and many more promotions constantly ushering in talent signing and releases, planning matches or other spectacles and shifting their backstage building blocks.
This week we have Hulk Hogan, The Undertaker and a little something Undisputed. Let’s see if we can make sense of what’s going on, shall we?
I’m Tom Colohue and these are your Wrestling Rumor Reactions.
Hulk Hogan will appear at WrestleMania
Hulk Hogan’s recent career is likely best described as controversial. A lot has happened and a lot of people have a lot of quite passionate opinions on it. Vince McMahon still seems to be a fan though as PWInsider have reported that Hogan will be appearing at WrestleMania 35.
We haven’t seen Hulk Hogan since Crown Jewel and we haven’t seen Hogan on a US show since back at WrestleMania 31 so this is potentially a big deal and a big draw. Questions will be asked however as to whether this is the right move.
How Hogan might feature is also an interesting question. He is unlikely to be involved in any sort of wrestling capacity and with Bliss, Truth, Carmella, Che and Jost already listed in some hosting capacity, there doesn’t seem much room for him.
I could see Hogan being involved with Braun Strowman in some capacity. Strowman needs to do something, after all.
Baron Corbin may not be facing Kurt Angle after all
On Raw last week, Kurt Angle officially announced that he would face Baron Corbin at WrestleMania. This has not been well received by and large by the WWE Universe; a fact that has been referenced by Angle since. WrestleVotes have heard that WWE management have taken notice.
Personally, I consider this to be a real shame. Corbin is a very clinical, safe worker who garners major heel heat and has a unique, well protected move set. He is also a fresher face who is on the up. Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be enough for a lot of fans. John Cena has been mentioned as an ideal opponent.
The McMahon family have shown time and again that they do not often change the script at the last minute, despite everything currently going on with Becky Lynch and Kofi. Crown Jewel stayed in Saudi Arabia no matter how much pressure WWE were under.
The Undertaker will appear in Saudi Arabia
We move on the Wrestling Observer now, who have reported that The Undertaker is not retired and will be appearing at WWE’s next show in Saudi Arabia shortly after WrestleMania.
This is consistent with what has been happening lately in WWE. The Undertaker’s last three appearances for the company have come in Saudi Arabia, Australia and Saudi Arabia.
The Undertaker’s current position in the company is something that I find genuinely difficult. It is true that Undertaker has always been better when making rare appearances but the way in which he walked away from WrestleMania 33, having been beaten by Roman Reigns, was a powerful, emotional image. It has of course been proven a lie at this point or at least disingenuous.
Whatever choice opponent lines up against The Undertaker in Saudi Arabia – hopefully Drew McIntyre or someone of that ilk – I have to wonder if that spot could have been used better by any of the hugely talented members of the current roster.
PAC having VISA issues
PAC, the artist formally known as Neville in WWE, will not be able to attend WrestleCon this year due to a VISA issue. WrestleCon announced this information in the tweet below.
It’s interesting, and a bit curious, that WrestleCon particularly mention that this should not be seen as an issue that will affect PAC’s employment with All Elite Wrestling. Now, I’m not entirely up to date with the rules of working VISAs in the United States, being a bit of a Brit, but if someone could let me know how WrestleCon could guarantee that with authority I would be very grateful.
The Undisputed Woman
Our out of left field entry for the week is undoubtedly this one. Wrestling News are claiming that Marina Shafir will be joining her husband Roderick Strong as a member of the Undisputed Era. There is no mention of sources or where this idea is coming from but with Shafir a member of the MMA Four Horsewomen I do not see this one happening.
That said, The Undisputed Era would then be capable of taking over the entirely of NXT and holding every title at once. That would be an interesting development, wouldn’t it?
