WWE Raw: Kofi Kingston vs. Seth Rollins, Title vs. Title, Tonight?!
WWE Raw is barely fifteen minutes in, and things have already gone completely ballistic. Less than 24 hours after WrestleMania 35, we’ve got a huge title match set for the night that could have major implications for the future of WWE.
WWE Raw opened with an appearance from the new Universal Champion Seth Rollins. That’s exactly the kind of thing you’d expect from the WWE Raw after WrestleMania. Rollins spoke to a raucous crowd in the Barclays Center about how he plans to be a fighting champion.
That was all as expected, but then we heard the booming voice of The New Day’s Big E echo throughout the arena. Barclays Center announced along with him the appearance of The New Day and new WWE Champion Kofi Kingston. When Kofi Kingston got to the ring, it felt like we were getting a special moment with both champions celebrating the night after their historic victories.
However, new WWE Champion Kofi Kingston turned everything upside down in a few short moments. Kingston mentioned Becky Lynch winning both the Raw Women’s Championship and SmackDown Women’s Championship in the “Winner Take All” main event of WrestleMania 35, and said that it sounded so good, they should do it again.

To the absolute amazement of the Barclays Center, Seth Rollins, and fans everywhere, Kofi Kingston challenged Seth Rollins to a “Title vs. Title” and “Winner Take All” match tonight on WWE Raw with both the WWE Championship and Universal Championship on the line. Seth Rollins didn’t bat an eye before accepting the challenge. Not only does this have the potential to be a huge match between two fantastic in-ring competitors, but it could turn the landscape of WWE upside down in the blink of an eye.
Some fans may be thinking this is a sign that the brand split could be on the way out, but a comment by Kofi Kingston before his challenge confirmed the Superstar Shake-Up will take place next week. With that in mind, what could WWE be planning? If this match takes place as challenged, we could be seeing the unification of the WWE Championship and the Universal Championship.
Unfortunately for these two men, it also means one of them may end their title reign just as it begins. Kofi Kingston’s historic win as WWE Champion brought on difficult emotions for fans and wrestlers alike around the world, but could it be over so soon? For Seth Rollins, his new role as a “fighting champion” to end the era of Brock Lesnar could come crashing down.
Only time will tell how things go tonight and what this could mean for the WWE as a whole, but the WWE Raw after WrestleMania has lived up to its reputation with unforgettable and unexpected moments.
Update 10:51p.m. ET: This amazing contest was interrupted when The Bar appeared and attacked Kofi Kingston. In response to the attack ending their match, Kofi Kingston and Seth Rollins instead joined forces to face The Bar in a tag team match and Seth Rollins suggested himself and Kingston would “settle things another day.”
