AEW: Everything you need to know about Darby Allin
All Elite Wrestling, AEW, have acquired another talent onto their roster. Most recently, they have signed one Darby Allin.
Darby Allin may be one of the youngest members of the AEW roster to date. At a young age, Allin has only been wrestling for about three years since 2015. What he makes up for in inexperience, Allin seems to understand how to get a crowd on his side better than most seasoned veterans of his era.
Allin is best known for his work in EVOLVE. While Allin loses matches more than he wins them, the Daredevil has singlehandedly and consistently managed to get the crowd to cheer for him and rally behind him for every match, even when his chances seem the most unlikely.
His wrestling style often sees The Invisible Man fling himself at his opponent without a care in the world trying to get the win. The way he throws caution to the wind in each of his matches recalls a young Jeff Hardy at the height of his popularity. No one can take a beating like Allin. It’s hard to not warm up to the guy and hope he etches out a big win one of these days.
Allin has notably crossed paths recently with WWE Superstars like Velveteen Dream, Kassius Ohno, Roderick Strong, Adam Cole and Mustafa Ali. Of course, he failed to etch out a win every time, but he often found himself getting put over by his opponent. A few months ago, in his return to the grounds where he made a name for himself, Johnny Gargano had some high praise for Allin, insinuating he had what it takes to win the Evolve Championship.
The never say die attitude of Darby Allin has helped mold him into the heart and soul of EVOLVE Wrestling.
More recently, his character’s been frustrated. He’s tired of playing that ultimate underdog. His tired of getting the moral victory in the form of kudos opposed to getting an actual victory. His character is desperate for a win and even more desperate to win a World Title. It would be interested to see how this character transitions into AEW and if he continues wrestling for EVOLVE, how the character, well, evolves in his current run.
As fun as it is to watch Allin get the snot kicked out of him, it is even more emotionally rewarding to see him scratch and claw for the opportunity at a win. When you see him execute a short burst of a comeback, it makes your heart skip a beat to see him catch a near fall. One of the best examples of his work worth watching are his Evolve Championship match against Austin Theory from EVOLVE 121.
Anyone hoping to take a look at Allin in the ring ASAP can either check out his stuff on YouTube, the WWN Live streaming service, or buy a ticket for the Fyter Fest – I repeat FYTER Fest; Ja Rule has nothing to do with this – where Darby will be wrestling his new boss, AEW CEO Cody Rhodes, in one-on-one action.
