Session Moth Martina vs Su Yung

Su Yung’s EVE debut back in February has clearly left its mark on poor Martina. The usually ebullient Session Moth was subdued and shaken going into this match – not even a surfeit of glowsticks could rouse her spirit. It’s not clear why Su Yung has targeted Martina of all people, but it’s clear that she takes her grudges very seriously. Wild-eyed, tongue scarlet with fresh blood, Su Yung is a sight to behold; in an era of increasingly ‘real’ pro-wrestling persona she is refreshingly unearthly, from her corpse paint to her posture. But perhaps the most intimidating thing about her is her sheer aggression. Su Yung is absolutely implacable, and Martina quicky discovered that it is not bants to wrestle Su Yung.

Real talk, though: on a strong card, this was absolutely match of the night. If you’ve written Martina off as a comedy wrestler, watch this and eat crow. The storytelling was second to none; Su Yung is queen of nonverbals, but Martina proved her own narrative chops in this gruelling back-and-forth. An absolutely stunning match, and well worth seeking out when the show goes up on EVE on demand.

Ultimately, Su Yung took Martina out with the Panic Switch and secured the pin.  But it appears that Martina’s nightmare is far from over. Su Yung tied Martina up in scarlet ribbon and dragged her to the back. Who knows what terrible ordeal Martina has in store….

Out came Laura DiMatteo, with a short but sweet encitement to rival Jordynne Grace: where are you? I believe that’s what the kids these days call a mic drop.
