The April 22 edition of WWE Raw was the first Raw since last week’s superstar shake-up with new faces on the red brand finding a new purpose, including the Universal Championship picture and Seth Rollins’ newest challenger.

Last night’s WWE Raw was the first full night in which the red brand had its new crop of superstars after last week’s superstar shake-up, and it didn’t take long to determine who would be the next challenger for Seth Rollins and his Universal Championship.

Two Triple Threat Matches would determine which two superstars would advance to last night’s number one contender main event matchup.

AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, and Rey Mysterio competed in the first Triple Threat Match and to no one’s surprise, this was a very good match.  But in the end, it was The Phenomenal One who emerged as the winner and he advanced to the main event of last night’s show.

The second Triple Threat Match featured The Miz, Drew McIntyre, and Baron Corbin and even though this match wasn’t nearly as good as the first one, this was still pretty good.  The result was especially surprising when Corbin took advantage of McIntyre’s work to pin The Miz and get the win.

The main event number one contender match came down to Styles and Corbin with the winner going on to face The Beast Slayer at Money In The Bank.

Corbin grounded The Phenomenal One at times and wore down the already-spent Styles, but it wouldn’t be enough and after fighting all the way back and eventually hitting a phenomenal forearm, Styles got the win and earned the right to face Rollins at Money in the Bank for the Universal Championship.

The face-to-face between Styles and Rollins after the match built anticipation even more.  When Styles joined the Raw roster last week in the superstar shake-up, the WWE universe began salivating over the possibility of seeing a dream match of epic proportions.

Styles has been in the WWE for over three years and has had tremendous success in that time, but for all of the superstars he has faced in that time, one marquee match and opponent still eluded him.  That has all changed in only a week of Styles being on Monday nights.

You could make the argument that Styles and Rollins are the two most consistent and overall best superstars in the WWE.  They both can be leaned on for great matches no matter the circumstances and fans have been waiting to see Rollins vs. Styles for a long time.

The WWE wasted no time making that match come to fruition and in four weeks, the WWE universe will be treated to what has to be viewed as the single biggest dream match the WWE can offer.

More from Raw

There are always dream matches wrestling fans think about, but a good portion of those hypothetical matches aren’t feasible.  In terms of realistic dream matches in the WWE in 2019, Styles vs. Rollins is the best match that can be offered.

The caliber of talent involved is extremely high and since Styles has been in the WWE, you could easily make the argument that Rollins and Styles have been the two best male superstars in that time frame.

Don’t be surprised to see some type of a heel turn in the coming weeks, especially by Styles, but regardless of the specific details surrounding this match, this feels like a WrestleMania main event level of a title match.  Hopefully, this feud goes beyond just the Money In The Bank pay-per-view, especially if the first match turns out like most believe it will.

The Universal Championship was non-existent for so long with Brock Lesnar holding the title hostage for the better part of two years, but now with Rollins as champion, things have already improved drastically.  And now, we get to see The Beast Slayer vs. The Phenomenal One for the first time ever in a dream match the WWE universe has been anticipating for years.

This is why Styles was brought to the red brand in the first place, for moments and dream matches like this.  Buckle up, WWE universe, the best realistically available dream match is about to burn it down at Money in the Bank.
