Jerry Lynn will make a virtuous Coach for AEW. Ashley Rose Nova looks at his career and why he will be a great asset to All Elite Wrestling

On May 8, 2019, All Elite Wrestling announced that Jerry Lynn would be joining the up and coming promotion as a coach.

Jerry Lynn could prove to be one of the company’s greatest assets they have acquired now that he’s onboard. Since Lynn debuted on Mar. 23, 1988, he has gained around 25 years of pro-wrestling knowledge. He has witnessed the wrestling industry’s alteration and transformation over those years.

That knowledge could come in handy in building AEW as a new promotion.

Lynn started his career working at countless independent promotions. He eventually made it to American Wrestling Association in 1989. A few years later, he would make it to Japan. In 1990, he would wrestle for Universal Lucha Libre. As his success continued to grow, he would work with several promotions in 1991. Promotions such as Global Wrestling Federation, Smoky Mountain Wrestling, Michinoki Pro-Wrestling, and even Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre.

In 1995, he would be signed to WCW. While at WCW, he competed at New Japan Pro-Wrestling where he would represent WCW for Best of the Super Juniors. During his time at WCW, he would compete against future legends such as Chris Jericho and Chavo Guerrero, Jr. Unfortunately, Jerry Lynn would be released from WCW on July 1997.

After the misfortune of his release, Lynn would receive an opportunity from ECW. This would spawn fantastic feuds with Lance Storm and Rob Van Dam. Jerry Lynn’s feud with Rob Van Dam is one of the most memorable feuds from ECW. It was highlighted by an uncertainty on who was the real show stealer and high-flying action with Rob’s Five-Star Frog Splash. He would arrive at WWE for a short time till 2002.

On June 2002, Jerry Lynn would sign with IMPACT Wrestling; then Total Nonstop Action. He would compete in their X-Division where he notably feuded with AJ Styles.

He would appear at Ring of Honor a few times and was eventually added to the roster full-time. It would be known as the comeback of his career. Out of many wrestlers, he faced Delirious, Austin Aries, Roderick Strong and Nigel McGuinness.

After wrestling a bit on the indies after TNA and a return to ROH, he would retire from in-ring competition on March 23, 2013, the exact month and day of his debut 25 years later. Lynn would continue to work with ROH as a producer and sometimes did commentary with the promotion.

Jerry Lynn’s credentials and experience speaks for themselves. His legacy needs no explanation. He will become one of the greatest assets for the new aspiring wrestling promotion. The growth of the company’s cultivating fan base will be enthusiastic knowing that the in-ring talent of AEW is in the proper hands.

Lynn’s knowledge of pro-wrestling and experience with major wrestling promotions will greatly impact the performance of their in-ring talent and provide knowledge on production with AEW.
