We have been seeing WWE Superstars get attacked week in and week out with little to no explanation given. Bray Wyatt and his “Fiend” may be to blame.

For the past month or so, Bray Wyatt has indulged in cutting disarmingly cheery and delightfully terrifying promos for The Firefly Funhouse. A couple weeks back, he revealed his “secret” to the world. Last week, he gave that secret a name … The Fiend. We have yet to learn much else about The Fiend, but there seems to be more to The Fiend than meets the eye beyond just a spooky Halloween mask.

Elsewhere, WWE Superstars on both main roster brands have been getting attacked left and right. At Money in the Bank, Raw’s Sami Zayn was attacked backstage by an unknown assailant. Triple H accused Braun Strowman of attacking Zayn in an attempt to take his spot in the main event ladder match, but Braun claimed he had no idea what Trips was talking about. We could assume Brock Lesnar attacked Zayn, but neither Brock or Paul Heyman ever confirmed this to be true.

Fast forward to a couple days later. The night of SmackDown Live when The New Day were celebrating Big E’s return from injury. That same night, right before WWE Champion Kofi Kingston was set to face Zayn in a non-title match, Big E was attacked and re-injured backstage. Again, a culprit has yet to be confirmed. Kingston was quick to blame Kevin Owens for the attack and continues to blame The Prizefighter, but KO venomously denies it. Of course, this wouldn’t be the first time in WWE history that a heel lied, but I think Owens is telling the truth.

Now, at this point, it looks like I’m about to blame Bray Wyatt for these attacks, right? Wrong. I don’t think Bray himself has anything to do with it. After all, he’s a wholesome, sweater wearing boy now. He wouldn’t even harm a fly.

That Fiend of his, however, might’ve swatted his fair share of bugs in his lifetime.

We still have a lot to learn about who – or what – The Fiend is, but I have a theory. My theory is that The Fiend is the manifestation of Wyatt’s dark half which he tries, but struggles to keep dormant ever since going through whatever kind of rehabilitation caused his recent rebranding. In layman’s terms, it’s his split personality. The Fiend is The Beast to Bray’s Kevin Wendell Crumb or the Hyde to Bray’s Jekyll.

Whatever rehab that Wyatt went through to become the man he is today had to have forced Bray to lock up the most evil parts of himself away in the deepest depths – a cage – of his mind. All of these attacks started happening mere days after he opened that cage and showed us his secret. Coincidence? I think not.

I could be wrong. This is just some speculation that crossed my mind, but whether I’m right or wrong, I just think this would be both an interesting story development and a fun way to re-introduce Bray Wyatt to the ring.
