This past Monday on WWE Monday Night Raw, Cesaro and Lashley were the first two men eliminated from the #1 contender’s Fatal Five Way, but not before dealing some damage to The Monster Among Men.

The Fatal Five Way in question between Ricochet (who won the match), Cesaro, Bobby Lashley, Braun Strowman and The Miz was booked to determine who would face Samoa Joe for his United States Championship at WWE Stomping Grounds. The first few minutes of the match saw Strowman dominate early by eliminating The Swiss Cyborg and The All Mighty back to back.

In retaliation, Lashley and Cesaro attacked Strowman to the point that the big man left his feet. Then, following a 630 Splash from The One and Only, the two strongmen helped the cruiserweight pin Strowman to eliminate him.

On the surface, this could have just been a means to eliminate Strowman to keep him looking strong in defeat, but I have a hunch that this could have been done to create future storylines involving Lashley, Cesaro and Strowman. If that truly is the case, then I hope that it leads to Lashley forming some sort of alliance with Cesaro. An alliance that could lead to both men becoming a full blown tag team.

It’s safe to say that both WWE Superstars have been in limbo for quite some time with no clear direction for either character. Without Lio Rush to back him up on promos, Lashley has settled on re-entering a feud with Braun Strowman and being on the losing side of the fence. Cesaro has continually locked horns with Ricochet in matches that have been entertaining, but provide little to no story progression.

Cesaro and Lashley forming an alliance to take down the seemingly unstoppable juggernaut that is The Monster Among Men could do a lot of good for both men, especially if they ended up becoming a tag team full time. Not only would it give both men something to do, story wise, but their pairing as two of Raw’s strongest athletes has potential to produce exciting chemistry.

Cesaro has always been at his best in a tag team role. He’s produced magic in tag teams with the likes of Tyson Kidd, Sheamus and Chris Hero (now Kassius Ohno). His pre-WWE run with the latter in The Kings of Wrestling is still hailed as one of the best tag teams in all of wrestling.

A run with Lashley could make for another fun pairing thanks to Cesaro’s experience as a tag team specialist. Plus, while both men aren’t great at cutting promos, Cesaro has a decent amount of charisma to save Lashley from cutting them as promos aren’t his strong suit especially.

Next. WWE: R-Truth doesn’t get the credit he deserves for his longevity. dark

Even if it’s for a brief run, a pairing between Lashley and Cesaro very well could be best for business.
