AEW Fyter Fest is mere hours away, but before the big show airs, we take some time to preview the event’s card, as well as predict matches taking place.

AEW Fyter Fest will serve as All Elite Wrestling’s second pay-per-view. Their first, last month’s Double or Nothing, proved to be a tremendous early hit with fans and critics, as well as a financial success with PPV buys being roughly estimated at somewhere between 98,500 and 113,000. This officially marks Double or Nothing as the highest grossing wrestling event that was not produced by WWE or WCW.

This time around, AEW Fyter Fest will air for free on B/R Live for all fans to enjoy. Which, given complains from some audiences regarding the $45 price tag for last month’s PPV opposed to the much cheaper price tags we see these days for streaming services, there could possibly be even more eyes on AEW Fyter Fest.

And with good reason. As critically acclaimed as last month’s show was, AEW have a chance to top it with a card that in many respects surpasses that of Double or Nothing. There’s plenty to look forward to and I am going to take some time to break it all down bit by bit, as well as predict the matches we’ll see.

But first, let’s talk about the Pre-Show.

Michael Nakazawa vs Alex Jebailey – Hardcore Match

Anyone who watched AEW Double or Nothing last month remembers Nakazawa as the big oily man from the Casino Battle Royale, but some wrestling fans may be less familiar with Alex Jebailey. He’s not a wrestler, but Jebailey is the founder and owner of CEO, the fighting game event happening alongside AEW Fyter Fest.

Last year’s CEO event saw Jebailey defeat Nakazawa in his very first match. This year, the 14-time DDT Ironman Heavymetalweight Champion hopes to get his win back, which I think is the most likely scenario. Not much to expect from this other than a fun comedy match to help get the crowd riled up early on.

Winner: Michael Nakazawa

Leva Bates (w/ Peter Avalon) vs Kylie Rae

It’s worth noting that this match might not even happen. It was never formally announced by All Elite Wrestling, but a match graphic for the bout was accidentally spoiled and leaked out by ITV in the UK.

Assuming that this match is happening, I think Kylie Rae is the one who should and will be the one to win for two reasons.

The first being because she has all the potential in the world to be the top babyface star of the company’s women’s division, if not the top star. To build her into a believable, credible babyface, she needs to start picking up wins and there’s no better time to have her start picking up wins than today’s show.

The second being because I feel like a collison of The Librarians is inevitable at some part and I think AEW will start planting those seeds tonight. Perhaps Avalon tries to help Bates score a win, but accidentally costs her the match. It could serve as the first of possibly several reasons why The Librarians decide that this town’s not big enough for two librarians.

Winner: Kylie Rae

Best Friends vs SCU vs Private Party

The stipulations of this match are … confusing, to say the least. AEW will be holding a tournament in the fall to crown their first ever AEW Tag Team Champions. Prior to the tournament, this match will be held where the winner will get the opportunity at a bye in the first round of that tourney. Not an actual bye, but a shot at one. Where or how that shot manifests itself is unknown at this point.

Screwy stipulations aside, this has all the elements of a potentially fun match. Best Friends already racked up their first AEW win at Double or Nothing, as did SoCal Uncensored. Although, this is Private Party’s first match as a team since they entered and failed to win the Casino Battle Royale at last month’s PPV.

With that said, the much young guns have the opportunity to deliver a star making performance against four veterans of the industry. However, I don’t think they should win because as a team that crowds are going to be less familiar with, AEW would be smart to allow these guys to get over by wrestling in the ring as often as possible. Which means they shouldn’t get a buy in the tournament.

That leaves us either with Best Friends or SCU as the winners. And because I have a sneaking suspicion that The Dark Order make another run-in to attack the Best Friends again, I say Kaz and Scorpio Sky win this one.

Winners: SCU

And now, onto the main card.
