Christopher Daniels vs Cima

We saw Christopher Daniels and the rest of SoCal Uncensored defeat Cima and his Strong Hearts group last month at Double or Nothing in Six-Man Tag competition. Now, Daniels and Cima go one-on-one, but the history between these two men dates back much further than their time in All Elite Wrestling is concerned. In fact, they have known and have been closely linked to each other for the better part of 20-years.

Cima served as a mentor to a young Daniels back in the late 90s during their days in Michinoku Pro. Playing protege to Cima, The Ring General learned several of his in-ring tricks from the OWE competitor. In that respect, this could be seen as a dream match for those who have followed their work together for so long. A dream match that I believe Cima has to win.

Cima has to win this for a number of reasons. One – and the most obvious reason – being so that he could get his win back from Double or Nothing. Another reason is to build credibility for guys from Oriental Wrestling Entertainment, who All Elite Wrestling have a working relationship with. A lot of us westerners aren’t familiar with their work in China and it is about time that AEW took the time to show us how good they are by having them rack up some wins.

Plus, allowing OWE guys to win can only help strengthen that relationship behind the scenes. I’m not sure how strong that relationship could last if AEW keeps booking OWE originals to lose in matches, especially big matches like this.

Winner: Cima
