After defeating Cesaro in his first Pay-Per-View singles match on the WWE main roster, Aleister Black picked up a second straight win over the former tag team champion on SmackDown Live. He looks poised for a huge SummerSlam this year.

WWE has quietly done an excellent job of booking their recent NXT call-ups. Heavy Machinery have done well in the SmackDown Tag Team Title picture, Nikki Cross is involved in a key angle on Raw with Alexa Bliss and Ricochet was the United States Champion. Now, we can add Aleister Black to the list of call-ups who are flourishing on the main roster.

Black is the only one of the latest aforementioned call-ups who secured a main title during his time in NXT, as he defeated Andrade at TakeOver: New Orleans to win the NXT Championship. He had several memorable title matches in NXT, including a Match of the Year candidate later that year against Johnny Gargano.

At Extreme Rules, Black showed his in-ring quality in a match against Cesaro, who has built a reputation for being one of the best television wrestlers in the company. Cesaro and Black entered Extreme Rules with all the hype and exited with what was arguably the Match of the Night on a strong card.

Just as critically, Black picked up a win over the veteran. And on Tuesday, he defeated Cesaro in even more impressive fashion.

Cesaro asked for a match against Black despite being a Raw superstar, and he may have regretted his request. This second match against Black was quicker, with the finish being even more devastating for Cesaro. Knee to the face. Black Mass. Mouthguard flying. One. Two. Three.

It was an impressive victory for Black, who is a clean 2-0 over Cesaro and probably won’t be facing the former member of “The Bar” any time soon. These two wins set Black up for something bigger on the Road to SummerSlam, and WWE fans have to put Black on their radar as a superstar who could have a star-making performance at The Biggest Party of the Summer.

Black has so much potential on the WWE main roster due to his in-ring skills, excellent promos, and unique character work. It’s easy for people to get behind Black, since he makes himself open. He’s someone many fans can identify with, and it helps that he’s quite entertaining to watch in the ring. I mean, just go look at the matches he and Ricochet put together as a tag team despite having no prior experience together.

SummerSlam is shaping up to be an amazing show, and hopefully WWE has something special planned for a good number of their rising stars. Aleister Black has all the momentum he needs after two buzzworthy, Black Mass-led wins over Cesaro, and it will be exciting to see how WWE capitalizes on it in July and August.

Whether it’s Bray Wyatt, Buddy Murphy, or, as unlikely as it seems, The Undertaker, Black could have a big opponent on Aug. 11 in Toronto. And if his opponent isn’t a big name, Black seems guaranteed to grab another impressive victory.
