The revolution will be televised, as the saying goes, and WWE NXT TV will be televised on USA Network starting in the middle of September.

For the past week or so, maybe longer, it has long been rumored that WWE has had plans to transition NXT from being a Network exclusive series to a television program on Wednesday nights. Seemingly, to directly compete with All Elite Wrestling’s television program that will start airing on Wednesday nights on TNT starting in early October.

The two big networks expected to pick up the black and gold brand were supposedly down to Fox Sports 1 and USA Network. The latter, of course, currently runs both Monday Night Raw and SmackDown Live while the former will start airing new episodes of SmackDown starting in October later this year. Now, it looks like we can add NXT to that chopping block of wrestling / sports entertainment because The Wrestling Observer is now reporting that USA Network have swooped up NXT.

We will have to wait on an official announcement from WWE on the matter, but love them or hate them, The Wrestling Observer get it right more often than they get it wrong. Hell, they were the first to break the news that The Miz vs. Dolph Ziggler was going to turn into Goldberg vs. Dolph Ziggler before SummerSlam would come to air, and that is just one recent example of when they get it right. The news of NXT’s big TV move is expected to be revealed on tonight’s episode of RAW.

With NXT airing on a major television network on Wednesday nights, this means they will, in fact, officially be going head to head with AEW TV. Only, NXT has a minor edge with their program beginning about a month ahead of AEW’s tv schedule.

NXT will start airing on USA Network on Sept. 18 for a two hour time slot from 8-10 p.m. EST. AEW will start airing on TNT in the same time slot starting on Oct. 2.
