WWE: Why Cesaro should move permanently to NXT UK
Cesaro was interviewed backstage after Monday’s episode of WWE RAW. The interviewer asked him how he felt about taking a flight to China.
The Swiss Cyborg stopped the interview mid-sentence and retorted “Not just China. I’ll be paying a visit to Wales. Cardiff, Wales to be more specific”. This led the WWE Universe to speculate if Cesaro will be making a one time appearance for NXT UK TakeOver: Cardiff or if will this be a full time gig.
Fans of Cesaro will gripe that this veteran has been misused during his time in the WWE. His resume is pretty impressive for someone that hasn’t reached his full potential under Vince McMahon’s watch. Cesaro is a former United States Champ, 6-time Tag Team Title holder and the first Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal winner. That is a list which many performers in the WWE locker room would gladly boast about.
Why is Cesaro heading to the Wales? His answers were open ended. We know he is going to make his presence known at the WWE UK Cardiff special this coming Saturday. He vows to take a hands-on approach in what could be a one-off appearance for the Swiss Superman. Should it be just a one-off, though?
Think about it. His unique in-ring prowess would suit the UK brand perfectly. A stiff, strong style that plays to the strength of his character. We could sit here all day and pontificate about who he could feud with. A Cesaro vs. Pete Dunne match would surely draw enormous attention across the pond.
What if they build him up to take on the current WWE United Kingdom Champion WALTER? Can you imagine a giant swing attempt to the mammoth Austrian? Cesaro could accomplish that feat and then some, having picked up a near 450 pound Big Show at WrestleMania and tossed him over the top rope to win the Andre The Giant Battle Royal.
So many other possibilities can be achieved. Feuds with younger, upcoming stars on the NXT UK brand would be waiting for him as well. Taking on rising talents like Jordan Devlin, Tyler Bate or Trent Seven. There is also the eye opening potential of Cesaro reuniting ‘The Kings Of Wrestling’ with his former tag team partner and current NXT UK performer Kassius Ohno. Can you imagine them dominating the UK tag team scene and earn a title match with current NXT UK Tag Team Champions Zack Gibson and James Drake?
If Cesaro were indeed to make the jump overseas, I feel that he would instantly become one of, if not the most popular star on the UK brand. A man who has all of the tools to be a WWE champion can now head over to the United Kingdom and stake claim as the man to beat on British soil. Fans in Europe would be so much more appreciative of a man who has been undervalued by WWE management for nearly a decade.
It would also draw many new eyes to the NXT UK product, something that likely isn’t being overlooked. I know that I am game to watch Ceasro, one of the top in-ring talents in the entire WWE promotion, apply his craft in the newer United Kingdom promotion.
Hopefully he makes that full time leap this Fall. He surely will stand out in a promotion that is poised to become one of, if not ‘The’ stand alone brand(s) strictly shown on the WWE Network.
