After a thrilling first round, the stage is now set for an intriguing series of matches in the quarterfinals of the WWE King of the Ring tournament.

The first round of the 2019 King of the Ring tournament brought with it a surprise or two, but mostly didn’t stray far from the status quo for WWE.

Luckily, that didn’t mean we lacked exciting match-ups, as the tournament has arguably given fans some of the most entertaining matches we’ve seen in awhile on weekly WWE TV.

Samoa Joe versus Cesaro, Ali versus Buddy Murphy, and Drew McIntyre versus Ricochet, were all standout matches featuring main event caliber performances.

Speaking of McIntyre versus Ricochet however, that might be the only questionable result we’ve seen thus far in King of the Ring. “The Scottish Psycopath” was clearly a favorite to win it all, and his swift exit likely does him no favors given his highly uneven push since WrestleMania.

Nevertheless, Ricochet’s victory still gives us an intriguing match-up to look forward to in the quarterfinals, as did all of the bouts in the tournament thus far.

With Samoa Joe versus Ricochet and Cedric Alexander versus Baron Corbin headlining the Raw side of the bracket, it’s going to be truly intriguing to see which high-flyer WWE chooses to give a major push too.

On the SmackDown side of the equation, Andrade versus Chad Gable and Elias versus Ali could both be star vehicles for some of the brightest up-and-coming talents in the company to stake their claim in this tournament.

With that being said, let’s get right to figuring out what might be in store for fans in all of these assuredly entertaining matches.
