WWE NXT: Jordan Myles proved he can hang in the main event

The last episode of WWE NXT saw the brand’s top champion, Adam Cole, defend his championship against a young upstart in newbie, Jordan Myles.

As some readers may recall, Jordan Myles (fka ACH on the indies) won the first ever WWE Breakout Tournament some weeks back. The tournament featured every new Performance Center entry who was yet to make their NXT debut yet. Hours before TakeOver: Toronto went live with its official card, Myles defeated Cameron Grimes (fka Trevor Lee) in the finals taped for the following week’s TV episode.

By winning the tournament, Myles earned the opportunity to challenge for any championship on the black and gold brand that he wanted to challenge for. As we learned two weeks ago, just one week after he won the whole thing, Myles decided to challenge none other than the head huncho of the brand himself, NXT Champion Adam Cole, Bay Bay. It was the other night that Myles was able to cash in his opportunity against the Undisputed Era leader for a one-on-one main event.

Although Myles did not come away with a shiny new title, he did walk out of the match with something far more valuable: the respect and admiration of the NXT Universe.

While the Full Sail crowd is a very indie-friendly crowd, Myles is still introducing himself to a new audience that for the most part isn’t familiar with the ACH he used to be. Even for those fans he is familiar with, he needed to rebrand himself as the main event talent that he rarely (if ever) was on the independent scene.

Last Wednesday, he battled for NXT’s grandest prize and not only did he not look out of place, but he looked like a million bucks. Even more impressive, he looked like a million bucks in the ring against one of the roster’s best all around competitors and second ever Triple Crown winner, Adam Cole. That’s no small feat to shrug at.

In playing an underdog out of his element vs. an opponent who refused to acknowledge him as someone in his league, Myles looked like a true Superstar who belongs in any main event.

Myles career path going forward looks unknown for now (although that last episode seemed to hint at an alliance with Keith Lee), but wherever he goes, the future of Jordan Myles looks bright.
